Well the controversy is still raging in America over this film like a persistant case of diarrhea. The thing that is pissing off all the newspapers and web site chatrooms and TV shows like “Dateline” (a show which, incidentally, claims to be a bastion of true and unbiased reporting while claiming that Michael Moore is in someway “inappropriate”) is that they claim all the least relevant or inflammatory points of Moore’s palm d’or winning work are unfairly represented. What a crock of shit that is! I mean, hasn’t anybody noticed that fair and unbiased is the last sequence of adjectives you could ever apply to the American media? Isn’t it amazing the firestorm of rage that is inflicted upon anyone who has the courage to present on a large, public stage, the very information that is being suppressed by the institution that’s supposed to be giving it to us in the first place?
My friends, we live in terrifying times, and it wouldn’t take too much random questioning in the street to find a person who could mindlessly begin to spew the most insanely illogical elements of the anti-Moore smear campaign like they were eloquently reciting the very words God carved in fire on Mount Whatever. The fact is, there is a massive movement to discredit Michael Moore, and this is something that you don’t have to be any kind of conspiracy theorist to perceive. Whether or not high-ranking officials of the Republican Party are behind it isn’t at all relevant. Just the mere fact that there are pro-republican web pages that spill out pages and pages of “facts” as to how Michael Moore’s films shouldn’t even be called “documentaries” is proof that people who throw their allegiance to the conservative vein of paranoid thinking are quite capable and highly trained to work as individual terrorist cells against rationality.
I mean, I have yet to hear ANYBODY even suggest that maybe, just maybe we should have an INVESTIGATION into some of the things that Moore implies in his work. What’s wrong with that idea? If none of Moore's allegations are true, what would be wrong with providing PROOF instead of INDIGNATION? I mean we investigated the fact that Clinton got a blowjob for months and months, what the fuck! Why do people find the suggestion of knowing what is true to be so damned offensive? They get pissed off at just the SUGGESTION that something might have been inappropriate like you are infringing on their right to delude themselves and live in a fucked up fantasy world where all the lollypops and sugarballs that they constantly suck on with their decaying teeth weren’t bought with the blood of the starving, exploited, oppressed children their politicians have been shamelessly putting through the grinder for more than fifty years.
For whatever fragment of your rational mind that has been uncorrupted, let me just state this: if even half of the things that Moore asserts in his film are true, then the US is in BIG FUCKING TROUBLE! Even if there are a couple cases where he presented things in a manner that was somewhat unfair, even if there are a couple things that are outright wrong, those crimes pale in comparison to the crimes done by the man who is currently occupying THE MOST POWERFUL POSITION IN THE WORLD. Would you discredit a denouncement of Hitler because it contained a comma error and a split infinitive? I hope not, because if you did, you’d be a fucking idiot.
And look, even with everything else aside, isn’t it easy to see that George W. Bush doesn’t have the brain capacity of a deep-sea sponge? I mean, we’ve all met stupid people, we’ve all had to deal with them on some level be it the fucking receptionist at your college revenue window, or the idiot at the other end of the drive through speaker. Bush is the worst of these, there is no secret there.
But really, at this point, it is imperative that we take advantage of the wonderful opportunity that Moore has given us. This is a chance to determine, irrefutably, which columnists, movie critics, newscasters are complete idiots incapable of constructing an intelligent thought, much less argument. The ones that engage in innane, whishy-washy, unfounded arguments that declare Moore doesn't even make documentaries, might have just as well declared themselves card carrying members of the evil-army. Now would be a good time to go through and see how every single person with a public voice reacted to Fahrenheit 9/11 for the purpose of building a context for which we can interpret their conclusions on everything else they choose to put their opinions on. Moore has shaken the bushes, the rats are running out. Take note of them, this is an opportunity that comes infrequently.
And don’t be surprised if a few years down the road, they all have adjusted their opinion and have erased their former articles with Stalin-like efficiency to replace them with whatever opinion has later proven itself to be the right one. They don't learn from or admit their mistakes, they just deny and run from them. That’s the kind of thing morons who think George W. is a good idea are fully capable of deluding themselves into believing they can get away with. But there are consequences, you can't be bigger than the world, even if you do support exploiting and suppressing everyone who lives in it...even if you've gotten away with those very acts for many years.
The End
