Let me get the record straight about what I think about Maddox. It's simple, he's a great writer and really the first person to write a Blog of any consequence. Let's face it, there are hundreds of Maddox rip-offs out there, some of them more blatant than others.
As for my page, it wouldn't exist without Maddox. I came across "The Best Web Page in the Universe" about four years ago and sent Maddox an e-mail asking him if he'd like a copy of a book I'd written called "Thief" (It was a book I published independently and made about 20$ back over the publishing costs). Anyway, Maddox read an online version of the book and even mentioned it in an interview here here.
He even posted a link to that book on his page for a while, but I eventually asked him to take it down because I didn't like the reaction the book was getting.
Soon after that, I asked him how to write web code and he gave me some pointers including some sample HTML pages. Throughout the last four years we've exchanged e-mails over a variety of topics.
There are a lot of Maddox-Basher websites out there and I simply don't see the point of them.
My site is very similar to Maddox's in format, but I would say the content is radically different. The web doesn't need another Maddox, we have the original. Instead, my page is more about satire than straight humor. If you read it thinking it's a "Maddox" page, you'll be disappointed.
Recently Tucker Max posted a link to my site on Rudius which Bob Smash alerted me to. Tucker Max is also an excellent writer who I have had some minimal correspondence with (I was encouraging him to write a novel, but the discussion didn't go anywhere). After the post, my web page received 500 hits on a single day (which is a lot for this site) and it has been noticeably higher ever since. This despite the fact that most of the comments on the Rudius forum were very negative. Here's the link.
No such thing as bad press eh?
So, anyway, I thought I'd throw up a link to Tucker as a sign of gratitude for his support and send whatever meager hits I could his way. Tucker Max.
Peace, Love, Death, Pestilence,
The End
