I'm a big fan of Deep Hollow, SJW and Dark Star.  Is there a C&D premium Virginia you would recommend?  I also would be interested in a Latakia blend that mimics Arcadia.

Trever Talbert

Try Baalbeck, it's excellent.  Very delicate and tasty.  It has absolutely nothing to do with Aradia, but it's one of my faves of the premium blends they offer, FWIW.

Jeff Schwartz

A blend that I consider to be Arcadia like is Ashton's Celebrated Sovereign. Something about its treatment of Latakia that I find similar to Arcadia's.

Magnulus

You might like Yale Mixture.  Not being a fan of Latakia, I got rid of my sample, but it's supposedly a "clone" of the original Craven.

Bill Burney

I suggest you try Night Train (Va/perique).  But an even better idea is to call the source - Craig and Patty have an 800 number and they're exceptionally nice and helpful.

Mark Stern

I would try C&D's 450, 456 and 457. For some perique, try 458. My favorite is 456. I would suggest a sample pack. One other point, stash the blends for a few weeks first. They are good and the price is right. Even with the new increase in prices, not really all that much, Tarler's blends are "worth it."

As to Arcadia--not sure. You might try their "Yale" mixture (531) as part of a sample pack.

My favorite blend from C&D is Bayou Night.  But all are great.  Try the Latakia Sampler.

Toren Smith

The Syrian Sampler is a great deal and the way to go!

I'd have to say that Craig blends several of my most favored tobaccos but #458 (Poplar Camp) is far and away the best of the lot.  An excellent blend of stoved VA & Perique with a touch of unsweetened black Cavendish, this tobacco burns very well to the bottom of the bowl to an excellent light gray/white ash.  It has quite enough "kick" for a nicotine maven like myself and is a superb all-day, every-day smoke.

I have tried many blends and am still trying some but I will say that C&D's blends are my favorite.  It appears lately that most pipe smokers in this group are leaning towards tinned blends from various tobacconists.  I have tried a lot of these myself and have found that very few offer more than what I am getting from C&D's blends.  For the price of a tin or 2 of tobacco you can get a pound of a very nice blend that gives you more.  Just my opinion.
