About Welcome to my haunt. I am 18 years old and I've been obsessed with Halloween for over 6 years now. I finally I have enough money and time to dedicate to my dream of one day opening a professional haunted house. Until then, this is what I give you: I have created a maze that is about 45X20 feet. The frame is 7 feet tall and I purchased over 250 feet of boards to create the roof and wall. I used thick poly to completely cover everything. Even in mid daylight, inside the maze is black. I spend over $2500,00 this year and last year combined. The hallways are less than 4 feet wide so the path is narrow and has many twists and turns. There are 3 main rooms in the maze, which contain props such as a cage or hail bales and crates. There are 12 actors in my entire haunt all dressed in full costume. Some grab your feet, some reach out from behind a cage or fence, others jump out around corners and from behind burlap draped down the wall. After the maze, there is a laboratory with limbs and bottles with eyeballs and potions. It is lit up with a backlight. I have created another path for those who decide not to down in the maze. This path is designed for younger children who prefer carved pumpkins and lots of lights. Both paths lead to the cemetery where they get the candy. In the entrance of the cemetery, there is a large arch with pillars that shoot fog. I greet the trick-or-treaters and they receive their candy still pretty frightened from the maze. There are many sound effects all in different areas. I have sound of growling with my werewolf, church bells in the graveyard, bubbling in the lab and animal sounds for the children's path. The soundtrack I bought for the beginning of the maze is excellent and many people were frightened by the sounds music. Last year, I was posted in the Winnipeg Free Press and on A channel and C.K.Y television. I had about 200 trick-or-treaters. This year was a huge success. I received lots of advertising through the Winnipeg Free Press and on Global T.V. I posted up flyers and signs. All of it paid off and I had around 1200 trick-or-treater on Halloween night.
