Physical Description: Lallinuka stands at 6'0" and weighs 150 lbs. She is
rather thin, and only her arms really have much muscle. She has brown eyes
and brown hair that she keeps long and in a bun on the top of her head. It's
always in the bun, and the bun is rather severe as well. She's kept her hair
the same since Marrinuk was born. She has a defined jaw and cheek bones, a
very defined face in general. She tends to wear very stylish clothing,
though practical. She prefers brighter colors and stylish cuts, but can also
be seen in a rather plain smock. It all depends on what type of work she's
doing.
Abilities, Strengths, Weaknesses: As with her son, Marrinuk, Lallinuka's
distrust of dragonriders can be a weakness. She'll automatically second
guess anything any dragonrider tells her, even the Weyrwoman. She never lets
any of them know she's secondguessing them. This means she is oblivious to
the possibility that a dragonrider is truthfull and upfront. She thinks
every rider is hiding something from her, and this makes her dealings with
them a little strange. She won't tell a rider she's talking to that she
suspects them, but she will definately think it.
Lallinuka is also one who is comfortable with being in control. She's good
at giving orders and somewhat suprisingly, she's not really all that bossy.
Instead of ordering someone to do something, she would probably explain that
it just needs to be done and that someone has to do it and so on. And she
can organize people and chores extremely well. She can usually tell the
physical and mental abilities of a person, when it pertains to work, rather
well. She's good at recognizing a particular drudge's limitations and tries
to organize work to accomodate each person's strengths and weaknesses.
Physically Lallinuka is rather weak. She's not big or strong. If someone
required any sort of heavy lifting, Lallinuka couldn't help at all.
Personality: Lallinuka tends to take control of a situation, but in a nice
way. She'll ask someone to do something, or explain that they need to do
something rather then demand it. And this hasn't just developed as she's
been Headwoman, this was actually a characteristic she's had since she was a
child. To go with this somewhat controlling nature, she is also quite firm
in her convictions and beliefs. As a child she was raised to distrust
dragonriders, and now nothing could sway her from that. She feels that
family is important, and no one could sway her from her belief in that
either. However, she isn't one to sit and debate such beliefs. She is much
more practical then that.
Other then that Lallinuka is a very level-headed, calm person, and brutally
honest. When asked a question she will answer with complete honesty. This,
of course, excludes questions about dragonriders that are asked by
dragonriders. After all, it wouldn't do to get fired. The only reason she
can see for lieing is to keep yourself and your family safe.
History: Lallinuka was born in Southern Weyr before the rest of the Weyrs
moved there. The first three turns of her life were normal. She lived with
her parents, both of them loved each other and loved her; life was quite
happy. There was plague all around, especially in the north, but she was
oblivious. She was surrounded with love, and her attitude in those first
three turns reflected that.
Even after all of the rest of the Weyrs combined in Southern, she was happy.
After all, it just meant there were more people to watch and more dragons to
look at. It meant more friends, and at 3 that's really all one cares about.
And so, while the rest of Pern was in social tummult, Lallinuka was
blissfully happy.
Then, when she was 7 turns old, both of her parents fell ill with the
plague. Lallinuka was immediately taken from them, and never saw them again.
She was told they both died within moments of each other, just a few
sevenday after they fell ill. She cried and cried, unable to understand why
the left, and what caused it. And out of this lack of understanding came
anger and hate. Who was to blame for her parents death? Why did they die and
who caused it?
Unfortunately for little Lallinuka, she was to find those answers in the
creche. The women of the creche were rather skeptical and distrusting of the
dragonriders, and were determined to teach the orphaned Lallinuka all about
it. Granted, it was possible not all of the creche workers felt that way,
but the ones Lallinuka were in contact with definately did. And so, the girl
who was born to two dragonriders grew to distrust all of them. These
dragonriding people, she decided, was what caused her parent's death. The
dragonriders were to blaim for the plague, and so her parents died.
While she remembers her parent's death almost purely in emotions, she
remembers the destruction of Southern extremely well in images and feelings.
The moment the shakes started, Lallinuka hurried out of the Weyr with
everyone else, and after getting far enough away, turned to see the Weyr
destroyed. For awhile after that she would have nightmares of getting caught
in the rubble. She was among those who founded Last Hope, though at the time
she had no real role, what with being 13 and all.
Once Last Hope was found, it occured to her she might stand on the Sands.
After all, she had that right as a child of dragonriders. She decided
against it, though, and all through the time that she could be a candidate,
refused to even attend Hatchings. She didn't want to end up Impressing from
the stands, like she'd heard had happened on occasion. She wasn't afraid of
the dragons, she was afraid she would be forced to join the ranks of the
untrustworthy dragonriders. Then what would she do? It was better, she knew,
to just stay away until she was too old.
She has lived through the rest of Last Hope's history, as strange as it all
is. And it has all just gone on to further her belief that dragonriders are
untrustworthy. Obviously they have been the cause of all the disruption
that's occured at Last Hope. Her own children were raised with the same
belief.
Lallinuka met Marrell when she moved to Last Hope Weyr, and the two
instantly hit it off. They were just friends for quite some time, then, when
Lallinuka was 15 turns old, it became romantic. Two turns later they were
handfasted, and a turn after that she had her first child, Marrinuk.
She thought her children would grow up right, but they were a dissapointment.
Marrinuk went and became a dragonrider, and Naharra became a dragonrider
lover. Mianarrah is the only one who's stayed with the belief that
dragonriders are untrustworthy, and even left to Last Hope Hold to,
presumably, get away from the riders. Lallinuka just wishes she would do
more than be a drudge.
Just a 5 turns after Mianarrah was born, at the age of 31, Lallinuka was
made the Headwoman of Last Hope Weyr. It is a position she holds to this
day, and intends to hold until she can no longer perform her duties well.
It's made for a very interesting Weyr, a Headwoman who doesn't trust the
dragonriders she works for.
