Remembering Darrell Allen Ride
POSTPONED TO MAY 2nd - RAIN DATE
A Central Indiana Vulcan Riders Association (CIVRA) ride
Yes it has been two years April 12th, the day that has been forever etched in everyones mind that knew Darrell Allen. For those who were not around back then Darrell was killed when a car pulled out in front of us while riding a Covered Bridge route on one of our a spring rides. It's time again to celebrate his life with a remembering Darrell ride each April. Like last year we will visit the crash site then make our way down south to the grave site on some of Indiana's most scenic back roads, if you made it last year you know what I'm talking about roads like The Devils Backbone ect. Darrell's family will also be riding and invite any and all who just like to ride "like he did" to come along, by the way it cost nothing to ride and remember Darrell. I'll always remember and remind everyone what a great guy he was, a close friend, a loving devoted father of 7, friend to all who were blessed to have known him, who always had those around him in tears laughing at his quick wit and one liners. Pray for good weather Sunday the 25th and plan on meeting at "Charlie Browns Pancake and Steak House 1038 Main St. Speedway" - Ride west from there around 9:30. A long ride is in store just the way Darrell liked to ride sun up to sun down so a early departure time is a must... Dave Doyle 441-8062
The rain date is Sunday May 2nd AND THE MEETING PLACE HAS CHANGED !!!!
Due to the popularity of Charlie Brown's on Sunday mornings "just too crowded" the new start location is HOME TOWN BUFFET 4873 W. 38th St in the GRORGETOWN PLAZA. Southwest corner 38th & Georgetown Rd. That's right all you can eat $7.00 and if you dont feel like a big breakfast we will be leaving around 10:00. Hope to see you all next week end... Ride for Soldiers & Sailors Home
West Lafayette,IN
The AmVets Department of Indiana in conjunction with Big Mike and friends will hold the first annual Motorcycle meet at the Indiana Veterans Soldiers and Sailors Home (I-65 at the Purdue Univ. exit) in W.Lafayette, IN on June 12th, 2004. Bikes will be allowed to enter the grounds at 0900 hrs. and we will close at 1500 hrs. Entrance fee will be $10.00 for the bike and $5.00 for the passenger. We will party at the American Legion post that is only a very short ride from the home afterwards. God bless America and those that served proudly. We hope to make this the Biggest, and most Important Motorcycle one day event in the state. Funding for this home has been cut by 2 million dollars. I just find that horrendous. These are all veterans that served our nation and us. When luck has it and they have no other place to turn they end up here. Most have nobody that cares about them. So I beg you to please do try to do what you can to pass the word on this meet. I hope this works for all the residents of this home. I am a Viet Nam era vet who served with the 5th Special Forces Group in Viet Nam and Cambodia. Since I have come home I have participated in hundreds of poker runs and including most of the MDA and Toy's for Tots runs. The last time I was on a MDA run it struck me that something of this magnitude should work in producing some badly needed funds for the Soldiers and Sailors Home in W. Lafayette,IN. Please and I really mean PLEASE do come and bring a lot of friends. You will leave the Soldiers Home feeling so much better. They are mostly forgotten by all even their own relatives. I find that so sad. So let's do what we can to cheer them up. Let's make their lives just a little bit easier ..... Thanks in Advance, Big Mike
Any Questions, call Big Mike 219-616-1099 or email m.olson@worldnet.att.net

Circus City Festival
Peru, IN
Peru's Circus History began in 1884, when Ben Wallace, owner of a livery stable, acquired a circus due to non-payment for boarding the animals. Then in 1956 the Circus Historical Society chose Peru, Indiana for their convention. A circus parade and downtown Festivities, which included some circus acts on the Court House lawn was held in 1958 and 1959 and paved the way for the annual Circus City Festival as we know it today. In 1960 the festival group decided to stage their own amateur circus. They sought out former circus performers to work with a group of untrained, but wiling youths, ages 14 - 20 to perform. Hundreds of Miami County youth, ages 7-18, sign up for acts they want to try out for at "Round Up". Practice starts the first of April. After many hours of practice and the desire to be in the circus in July, they put on a two and one-half hour spectacular show.
