ASPIS 2
What’s new!
ASPIS 2 has major changes regarding version 1. First of all, it’s much smaller! The previous version was written in a development environment that requires a huge overhead and may runtimes. The new version is written in Rapid-Q Basic and consists of a single EXE (plus this file)! The previous version of ASPIS required over 11Mb of disk space, while the download file was about 5 Mb. Too much space for such a small application… Version 2 requires less than 300kb of your disk (we talk about a ratio of 1:40 approximately!), while the download file is even smaller. There is not even an install program, just unzip to your hard drive. ASPIS will not touch your registry either… We hope that other programmers will follow our example and abolish “bloatware” for good! For more information and dowloads on Rapid-Q (which is free!), you may visit the “Guidance” site at http://g.yi.org/?f=7306, as well as http://basic.mindteq.com/
There are other changes as well: The field types now are shown both in SQL and MS®Access format, while the field sizes are given by both digit and byte representation. ASPIS 2 now supports SQL aliases, so there is no need for field label editing. The option of printing the table structure has been replaced by a “Save structure to file” function. Furthermore, the whole interface is more simplified and user-friendly. There is only one drawback (for the time being at least): Databases must not be protected. So make sure that you hide your database file deep inside your server!
