Social Comment - Japanese Cars (You'll be amazed)
1) So, yeah last friday and monday were Groopu-matchii. You're probably thinking WTF is she talking about? Well, thats me resorting back to Japanese again in my head. Groopu-matchii is Group Match or House sports at my school. The house system is essentially the same as australia except that the groups are determined by what class your in and not where you are assigned or whatever. There are four houses and Kita Koko (that's my school, it means North State High School) has blue, purple, yellow and red. I'm sure that they have names but I couldn't know, the symbols are too weird. Strange parallels are present between my old school (Townsville Grammar) and Kita, for example, the Purple team is always the strongest and the Red team (my team this year) always loses with the others somewhere in between (isn't that right ROWLAND!!! WHIGHT HOUSE!!!GRR) Anyway I decided to change the red teams fortunes this year and play in their volleyball team. Actually, all that know me know that I have a passion for hating volleyball and cannot play for my life (think rogue balls in all directions). But it turns out that Japanese girls also all suck at volleyball but have a feverish willingness to give it a try (i love them sometimes) and so in the end we won like two thirds of our games and came out somewhere near the top. Oh, and I have earned definate kudos with everyone (especially the boys) cos I can clear the net with some purpose. (And am also the only girl who can spike)(and is tall enough to spike). That being said though, I think that I have sustained severe and permanent damage to my wrists and the bones and tendons inside. Ouchy.
2) Evelyn is a new friend that I have made. Shes the owner and main teacher at You And I English Conversation School. She's pretty cool and has that unique ability to be part of the Japanese society but still apart from it (she's not a Japanese national but is married to one) and so we are able to have chats about the strange and wonderful world that is Japland. Yayness.
3) Oh yeah, I went to Takamatsu again this Saturday. Komaki and I were slated to go to Matsuyama but tagged along with Jdad on a business trip, thereby avoiding the train fair. Twas great fun. I managed to buy shoes for the first time ever in Japan! Ok, I am a total shoe freak as all my friends know so being able to go shoe shopping is like the biggest release for me. However my Japanese shoe size is 25 but most if not all Japanese dress shoes (that is not sneakers) only go to 24.5. Talk about bad luck. However, as I found, its all about the type of shoe and I managed to luck out that time. Oh yeah, and I bought some nice frocks for my bday bash (that's still on the drawing board) and a United Colours of Bennetton shirt. Oh and had lunch again at Starbucks. yay. Twas a great day.
Til next week...^-^
