a Book by Terry Brooks

The Sword of Shannara is probably my favorite book. It's a fantasy adventure telling the tale of Shea Ohmsford, a young elf boy, that begins a voyage from its home in "shady vale" over the four lands to reach the mystical Sword of Shannara, the only arm capable to defeat the Lord of Illusion before its plan to rule the world comes true.

The book is intensive and involving, it lets you figure out the scenes as you read and any of the characters are different in behaviour but so real that you can compare with someone you surely knew in real life.

Near to the Tolkien's book "Lord of the Rings" for genre, i found alot of analogies in the "Sword of..." but at last they are different. Someone could tell the "Sword off Shannara is more simple and less extended... maybe yes but you can read it in a once without pauses and without being a "full time reader".

The Sword of Shannara is the first of a trilogy followed by "The Elfstones of Shannara" and "The Wishsong of Shannara". All books are linked "genealogically" - in fact the main theme of the "Sword"s book is the birthright to use the sword by a descendant of the elvish prince Jerle Shannara that received the sword from a Druid to defeat the Evil.
