| The geography of The Voltarum's land varies greatly. The Quzko
Ice Shelf provides an almost impenetrable obstacle in the north.
Lined with steep cliffs and treacherous cracks of ice, the shelf is extremely
difficult to traverse and dangerous to land heavy equipment on. The
one free port of Jassan is heavily guarded by the immense Voltarum Navy,
and is consistently patrolled by numerous aircraft. Ampere Island,
the Voltaru's largest, is comprised of mostly military defense establishments.
The North side, however, has several resorts, as the Island is one of the
few spots in the nation that has an average temperature above freezing.
The interior of the Voltarum is mostly thick continental ice sheet, scattered with plateaus and rocky areas around major metropolitan areas. The coast around Jassan is ice free. As a result, most cities are entirely encased in protective ice domes, a specialty of Voltaru engineers. The mountain range in the middle of the country is massive and nearly impossible to go through, especially to those who do not know the terrain. The land is full of natural resources, including underground deposits of all major fossil fuels, a huge deposit of uranium ore which comprises a major manufacturing sector of the economy, along with most other precious and industrial metals. Fishing is also a huge natural resource, and is also a major food source. In addtion, there are numerous geothermal power sites throughout the nation, heating much of the Voltaru people. The land to the east belongs to Japanese Antarctica, a long time friend and ally.. The land to the west is under the protection of the Voltarum. A major railway connects The Voltarum with Japanese Antarctica, and also to the west to the North Sector Naval Base. Both ends of this line are under guard by Voltarum Special Forces. Turnya to the south has no relations with The Voltarum. The local time is GMT +2:00. As Antarctic conditions make time very flexible, many countries of the region try to maintain a common day/night time period.. The sun sets in April and rises again in August. It also remains up 24 hours a day from October to February. Listed are all acknowledged military installations. Other points of interest are listed below the map. |

| Points of Interest:
The Antarctican terrain does not provide too many natural tourist attractions, however there are several interesting points a visitor might want to visit, in addition to The Voltarum's spectacular man made achievements. (1) The Great Hall, Ohm - The capital building of the Voltarum, located in the center of the ancient city of Ohm, is the largest building by area in the country. It houses the Premier's residence and office, the Meeting Hall of the High Order, and several areas to meet and greet visiting diplomats. The Hall is said to have more gold in it than what was taken from the California Gold Rush, and as such, is under heavy guard 24 hours a day from thieves. Daily tours are given, although no one is allowed in the Meeting Hall of the High Order. (2) Jassan Sea Ports, Jassan - The Largest City in the country also is its only contiguous seaport (the North Sector Naval Base also serves the Voltarum Naval needs). Astounding feats of engineering were needed to clear and establish the immense sea port in the city. It houses several military bases, as well as a very busy commercial harbor. The delta of the mighty Melzig river flows to the sea here, as well. (3) Warcrown Museum, Ohm - Misleading in its name, the Museum is actually several buildings, each dedicated to a certain aspect of history and society. The biggest draws are the Voltaru History Museum, Antarctican History Museum (with exhibits on each of the Antarctican nations) and the Zortik Nekret Art Museum. (4) Quzko Ice Shelf - This massive ice shelf wedges itself in between northern Voltarum and the sea. Although some areas have become dangerous and difficult to traverse, several areas are open to the public for dog sledding, ice climbing, or overall exploration. (5) Mt. Warcrown, Theta Province - the highest peak in the country, this mountain has claimed more lives than the Ministry of History cares to admit. Only seasoned mountain climbers should attempt the feat of climbing this massive mountain. Legends of the mountain proclaim that Ulfgar Warcrown's spirit protects the mountain, and any fortune that may lay inside it. Lower altitude points offer beautiful vantages of the nearby Cerberus Glacier. (6) Laharel Caverns, Eta Province - these natural caverns sit at the base of the Warcrown Mountain range, and their extent are still not known. Every day new paths are found, although some too small to humanly follow. The main chambers are open to the public, with or without a trained guide. (waivers are required to enter cave with no guide.) (7) Warcrown Naval Academy, Likli - The Voltaru navy is the pride of the country, and the officers of this mighty armed service are trained at this immense facility. Public tours are given to low security areas, and include free use and access to flight simulators. (8) Thrillopolis, Ohm, Jassan, Likli, Voltaru City, Queltara, Grimpohn - The Disneyworld of the Voltarum, known for its physics defying roller coasters. Each location has at the minimum 7 different coasters in its park. In addition, each is known for its own "Signature Coaster." The Voltaru Coaster Society produces t-shirts and other memorabilia depicting each of these 7 coasters. Anyone who achieves the special 'coaster set, proof of riding all 54 different Thrill-po coasters, gets free membership in the VCS. |
