Midgar Part 1

This is the walkthrough part of the first half of your adventure in midgar. When you get off the train that rolls into the station, you will be just a young warrior who is loking for a living and decent pay who has a sharp tongue and a bad attitude. Check the dead guards that you will see as soon as you get off of the train for some potions, then follow your friends from AVALANCHE to the next screen. There you will be able to name your first few characters for the game and you'll learn that you were hired to help a rebel group called AVALANCHE destroy a Mako Reactor to get back at the Shinra company. The path to the reactor is pretty simple, with no side paths to get lost on or anything like that, (although be sure to grab the Pheonix Down, which is right by the entrance.), so just follow Jessie. Although Cloud comes with Bolt and Ice magic, save your magic power as much as possible for the boss that you will see later on. So just follow Jessie and finally you will reach the boss that i have been talking about. Fear not though, the Guard Scorpion boss is not quite as bad as he seems. Hit him with Bolt magic and Limit Breaks when you get them, and do not attack him when his tail goes up, or else you're going to be sorry because he does this one attack that can take alot out of you. Once the tail goes back down, you can continue wailing on him. Once he has been clobbered to death, have Barret equip that nice new Assault Gun that you will win, then go back the way you came in. Be quick about it getting out too, since there's a ten-minute timer on that bomb that Cloud set off and don't forget to help Jessie as you come back up the stairs because you need her to open the doors. When you out to the street, the flower girl from the FMV sequence will come up and talk to you. Buy one of the flowers from her, and you will have scored your first "Love Point." Which is the way that the game records how you have treated the characters. While this isn't important to the outcome of the game, there are several scenes that are dependent on the amount of Love Points you have with Aeris or Tifa, so if you want these girls to like you, you should be nice to them, and use them often in battle. At any rate, take that flower and follow Aeris south, where you'll be attacked by a bunch of Shinra troops. All you have to do is fight them or run from them until Cloud finally gets sick of it and jumps onto a passing train heading down to the slums. Finally you will reach the slums and Tifa's 7th Heaven Bar and give her that flower that you bought from the flower lady and she will love you for it. Follow the story for a while, and make sure to take note of the reminiscences Tifa and Cloud have together. While In Sector 7, make sure to buy anything you might need such as potions ect ect, and grab the Enemy-All on the second floor of the Weapon Shop. Also, as with any RPG from the beginning of time, talk to everybody! They'll all have pretty interesting things to say, and that information will help you get a clearer view of what's going on in the game. When you're done doing everything that you want to do hop on the train to the east. When you get on the train you will go through a checkpoint and the alarm will go off. Get to the other side of the cars in time and you will be perfectly fine, and watch out for the man in the 3rd car who steals some of your money or your items. When you make it to the last car, talk to Tifa and Barret, then jump out of the train. When you land which would probably hurt them really bad but it does not, run north to get to the Number 5 reactor and move the storyline along, or if you've got time to kill and want a good work out, run all the way south to fight hordes of Special Combatants for fun and profit such as money and a good way to get those second level one limit breaks. However, you'll never get to the reactor the other way, so when you're done battaling the special Combatants , take the tracks back north. This reactor's identical to the last one that you saw, except you come in from a diffrent way then last time. There's not much in the way of you or that much treasure, and the enemies are not too tough to beat. Except for the sets of five Machine Guns(which you can kill with the enemy all that you got earlier paired with Clouds bolt). At the end of the path through the reactor, a nasty surprise awaits you, so make sure your health is up to good measure and go. The Air Buster boss is relatively tough for this early in the game, although all the damage he deals to you will cause your limit gauges to go up awfully fast clobber him with the limits! Eventually, with the Limit Breaks and Bolt spells, you'll be able to take him out in no time at all. Do not worry about Barret and Tifa you will lose them for now but you will also meet up with them later on. Well right now you have got somebody else to worry about anyways. After talking to Aeris for a while (she'll like you more if you can remember her from before which will in turn give you more love points with her), some jerk from the TURKS of the Shinra company named Reno (this won't be the last time you meet him either) will start harrassing you. Get Aeris out of trouble by going up the stairs and pushing the barrels in this order: leftmost, topmost, rightmost. She'll be impressed by how cool you are. Equip her with that Titan Bangle you won from Air Buster and move on out of the place. As you explore the next slum, take note of the house in the lower right. Inside are two things of interest: first is the first of the six Turtle's Paradise Ads (you will find more on that later on) second is the hidden dresser drawer you don't need the 5 gil, so leave it there, and when you come back later on, the kid that was there will give you a Turbo Ether yeah. In the next screen on the right is Aeris' house, where you can find an Ether and a Cover Materia in the garden(wowthat garden is growin some neat stuff). Then you will talk for a little bit and finally go to sleep. When you're getting ready to leave the hospitality of Aeris's mom, walk (don't run! or you will wake them up) to the stairs and move on. Don't worry that you ditched Aeris she won't let you stay away for long.
