Boinne

Boinne, sometimes spelled Boann, is a river goddess with an interesting story. Nuada had a well that only he could look upon. Apparently Boinne got curious and decided to look anyway. Legend has it that the well then exploded in her face and gushed a flood of water so powerful that Boinne had to run away lest she drown. The torrent chased her all the way to the sea, creating a river which was named the Boyne, after its accidental creator.

Boinne had a son with the Dagda named Angus mac Og and she and her son are both sometimes associated with cattle.
