In September 1933 the royal yacht squadron offered a challenge for the next America's world cup, Harold Vanderbilt organised a group of people of about 17 people to build Rainbow which was a J-class boat designed by Starling Burgess (my Great Grandfather).
Starling Burgess helped to design the first sea plane for the 1st world war. After training with the Wright brothers themselves. He built and designed the Burgess-Dunne flying boat, which was used in the 1st world war.
