In the early years of the 20^th century, sea warfare attacking enemy vessels or defending a ship was revolutionised by the introduction of dreadnought type battleships. These new ships combined the latest advances in steam propulsion, gunnery and armour plating. The gun turret was designed to fire huge shells over huge distances. It was protected by armour 30 cm thick.

The measurement given 4 the guns of the ships refer 2 the bore diameter. Built by Arsenal de Brest. Laid down 15 Nov 1910, launched 22 Sept 1911 completed 5 June 1913. It was a 1^st World war ship and many of them got sunk in the sea.
