Tae Soo Do

Tae Soo Do is a subsidiary of it's mother art - Hwa Rang Do. It was founded by the Supreme Grandmaster of Hwa Rang Do, Dr. Joo Bang Lee, thiry years after he brought Hwa Rang Do to the public in Seoul, Korea in 1960. Realizing that there existed a need in today's world for a sport's-oriented martial art that still required its' practitioners to develop the mental and discipline and ethical model behavior not found in many other "martial sports," Dr. Lee formulated Tae Soo Do. Like it's mother art, Tae Soo Do encompasses both hard styles (like Tae Kwon Do, Karate, and Kickboxing) and soft styles (like Hap Ki Do, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Kung-Fu). Techniques have been modified for sport's application and Tae Soo Do is now the basis for the new Martial Arts Sport Tournament Rating System (M.A.S.T.R.S.). These standardized rules and regulations enable all martial art sports to compete fairly among each other. M.A.S.T.R.S. Leagues exciting sport rules are captivation both competitore and spectators alike, and doing so within the dignity and honor found in true martial arts. The code of ethics found in Hwa Rang Do is also the backbone of Tae Soo Do. Mental discipline, concentration, and focus are its mainstays as well as strong physical exercise and stong development of the basics of martial arts skills. Advanced practicioners of Tae Soo Do continue their graduate martial arts training in the mother art of Hwa Rang Do.
