Jujitsu

Original "soft style" Japanese martial art founded by Silla Saburo Yoshimitsu and predecessor of Jujitsu, Daito-Ryu Jujitsu, Ninjitsu, Judo and Aikido. Basically circular in nature, Jujitsu utilizes the joints, throws, and use of an opponent's energy against themselves. In 1905, the majority of old schools of Jujitsu merged to form the famed Kodokan with the exception of Aiki-Jujitsu which remains independent. Jujitsu techniques include throwing, choking, joint locking, and some weapons. The essence of Jujitsu is to move from one technique to another. Different forms of Jujitsu include: Daitokan, Daito-Ryu, Aiki-Jujutsu, Goshinjutsu, Hakko-Ryu, Kitoryu, Koshimawaki, Sappo, Sekiguchi Ryu, Shindo Yoshin Ryu Jujitsu, Shin-Noshindo, Shinto-Yoshi-Ryu, Taken Ouchi Ryu, Sosuishitsu Ryu, Tenjin Shinyo Ryu, Yawara, and Yoshin-Ryu.
