Vice Admiral Akiyama Saneyuki
Akiyama, Saneyuki served
as a Staff Officer in the First Fleet on board the Battleship Mikasa. He was
involved in the Port Arthur
blockade along with The Battle of
the Yellow Sea. He also was responsible for the planning
of the naval Battle of Tsushima, which was a planned seven-stage battle in
which the Russian Baltic fleet lost all but three ships. After the war Akiyama
taught tactics and strategy. He also traveled to Europe
to observe World War I. He retired with the rank of Vice Admiral in 1917.
