These pictures were taken in Cairo, Egypt during my winter break this year. They are from all over the area, from the city to the desert. They are about 1/16th the size of the originals in terms of square area. If anyone wants high-res copies of any pictures, let me know.
Views of Egypt (Winter Break 03/04) - Added July 1, 2004
Alexandria
Side view of the front part of the main castle. The clouds were really nice that day...
An air shaft in the middle of the castle. This was a fun picture to take.
The brick ceiling in one of the prayer rooms. This is one of my favorite pictures!
And a few shots of the very impressive library in Alexandria:
Desert Life
A couple interesting shots of palm trees. (One - Two - Three)
The trunk of a tree in one of the stable's schools. A very unique, natural formation.
Scaffolding structures, simple but effective. Another one of my favorite pictures.
Out in the desert with the Step Pyramid in the distance. (That tiny, weird guy on the left is Dad...)
Touristy Pyramid Pictures:
The Step Pyramid in all its glory. (The small black speck at the bottom-left of the base is a person, just to give you a little perspective.)
Looking up at the Red Pyramid. Very impressive.
One of the 'nomes' of Egypt. Possibly the reason for their downfall...
The Khan
The view down a covered street. I believe this is also the Street of the Tentmakers.
A teetering old chimney amidst some colorful windows. I like this picture a lot.
Some really old, really cool gears. I think they were used for grinding grain or hauling water.
Two pictures of a door hatched with light and shadows. (Color - B&W)
