Comics
This is just a small list of some of the online comics that I tend to read on a regular basis. I really like them, so you KNOW they have to be good. Just follow the links below to their main pages or their archives. Eventually, I would like to put up some of my own comics. I've got some old ones that I made a good number of years ago, but I'd like to start fresh with a whole new style of drawing. If I ever get that accomplished, I'll put a note up on the main page. But I wouldn't hold my breath.... (I'm pretty busy.)
This is one of the best web-comics I've seen. It follows the mis-adventures of a group of "Light Warriors" who are supposed to be on a quest to save the world. The character personalities clash perfectly, with several of them making you WANT to be evil. In short, Brian Clevinger (the writer) is pure genius when it comes to humor...
The comic uses computer-generated figures from a Final Fantasy game (one of the ones before FFVI), hence the '8-bit' part of the name. Just about anyone will enjoy this strip, although people familiar with RPG's (Role-Playing Games) such as Dungeons & Dragons and the Final Fantasy series may catch more of the subtle jokes being made. If you have the time, I recommend you start reading from the beginning. The whole strip is great, and it will be funnier and easier to figure out what is going on. Just click on the archives link on the left of the main page. At the time of this writing, Brian has over 350 episodes to his name... wow!
This is another great comic. It's nicely hand-drawn and has lots of good humor in it. A lot of the episodes are in relation to video games and things of that nature, so unless you're familiar with such subjects, the basis for many of the strips might be unclear and some references could seem weird. However, there's still a decent amount of good ol' regular humor that anyone can enjoy.
A little note, however. This comic is a bit more liberal with the language, and the situations in some of the episodes can be kind of disgusting. But, hey! That's all part of the fun! The comic doesn't follow a story, so each episode can be read on its own. But since there are only about 80 episodes at this point, it doesn't take very long to get through them all. Just check out the archives.
Just a quick link to one of the episodes. This HAS to be one of my all-time favorites from this strip. *Note: If you haven't a least HEARD of Pokemon, then you are living in the Dark Ages (or the Middle East).
Jorge Cham from Stanford writes this humorous strip based on graduate school and all of its trials and pitfalls. It's pretty funny and has been going on for a number of years (since 1997), just like most graduate research. If you've even been to grad school, even for a few months, you will appreciate this strip...
