Chapter 5
The Waking Judgment of Fate
*
The Triforce burned like a cold fire in his mind. A treasure of all treasures. It was so close that he could smell it. So close that he could feel it, like it were reaching out for him. The Golden Land lay before him, like a painting. But so close that it was, it was still so far away. Almost a dream of a memory. But it was neither, it was a reality.
The years have passed, and with each passing one, his heart grew more and more cold to the power that kept him from it. He could close his eyes and there it was. One instrument to the chorus of total power, a compass of absolute power. Power, Courage, and Wisdom. He once housed the point of Power, used it to rule, define a life of his belief. Then it was stolen and hidden, locked away. Then he had been locked away, hidden away, but not forgotten.
Above him, the darkness rolled like windswept clouds. It was a darkness that was felt, but not yet seen. But he knew, that in a short period of time, when all the pieces were in place, that the sleeping judgment of fate will align and the darkness that grows wider and fiercer, will be showered down about the land and the gates to the Golden Land will open for them once again.
He did not remember when he had woken from his forced sleep, but he remembered the past. The pain of silver bolting through his flesh, the sundering. He still felt the burning, the powering heat flowing through his body. His body had healed, been restored by whatever power had brought him back from his dead sleep, but his mind was still fresh and remembered all. The face of the hero, his silver arrows and the sway of Courage, and influence of Wisdom aiding him. And his Power had not been enough, had not been definite and he fell. But he had not forgotten, and knew that he wouldn't forget any time soon.
He smiled, stared ahead. Down before him lay the castle, busy with business, but empty of control. The mountains he resided in, shielded him from view. Behind him the peak of Death Mountain rose above all in a towering show of defiance. He smiled, shortly the business in the castle will be cancelled. He closed his eyes and saw it. The king, a solemn man, will mourn the news at the loss of his daughter, the Princess Zelda. He had long sought after her, for her power over Wisdom. But that had always been a false goal, a failed ambition. Soon, his eyes still closed, he would realize onto them all, that the three judges of fate, destiny and kismet will reign, not only over Hyrule, but over the Triforce as well and the land that is slept in.
He turned away from the ledge, but his shadow seemed to linger behind him, not yet ready to be moved from the ledge. As if his shadow was but was as alive as he was.
He returned to the darkness of the mountain caves, taking pleasure in the restored state of his body, the curse of the golden land removed. His right hand was closed, tightly around the jewel that undid the nuisance. The Moon Pearl vibrated warmly in his hand and his mind throbbed vividly with plan to be made, and fulfilled.
