The Lifeguard
[The
Watchman on the Wall]
Ezekiel 33:7 (KJV)
So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a
watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my
mouth, and warn them from me.
Teaching Aid:
a whistle
Here is my whistle. It could be used be a coach or referee. But my whistle was used for lifeguarding. The beach is one of my favorite places. I try to make it to the coast as much as
possible. It is a lot of fun playing in
the surf.
Have you noticed the lifeguard perched high in his
chair, his vigilant eyes looking for any threat to our safety? The surf guard braves the wind, sun, and
hungry insects from keep us from harm.
I have been so impressed by the guards that since I retired from
teaching school, I teach lifeguards.
God has called us to be lifeguards, (the watchmen
on the wall). As followers of Jesus
Christ (the son of man) the Christian is called to discern evil and expose
it. Do you know what is meant by
discernment? Evil is to be viewed for
what it is. And having recognized evil,
a believer is not to compromise. Just
like the lifeguard the Christian is to sound the warning, blow the whistle and
expose Satan’s works. God will hold us
accountable for leaving an open hole for someone to fall in.[1]
Prayer: Father Please give us the strength and the
wisdom to protect each other from wrongdoing. AMEN
