Futile Debate

Genesis 3 KJV
4Then the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die. 5For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

Teaching Aid -a Piece of fruit.

What I have here today is a piece of fruit.  In most cases fruit is good for you.  Can you think of and instance when it was not.  Do you think god was really talking about fruit?  I do not think so.  He was talking about our ability or lack of ability to discern right and wrong apart from his law.

Eve mistake is that she allowed Satan represented in the serpent to engage her in a debate on the subject.  If we are in Christ, Satan does not have the power to take away our salvation but he can take a lot of the joy out of our walk with the lord by convincing us that wrong is right.

He tempted Eve then Adam.  They made the mistake of debating a crafty liar on issues of good and evil.  He tempted Jesus. Jesus refused to debate him but quoted the word of God.

Some young people today think they will find truth in association with the Devil.  Some even worship him directly or indirectly by relying on Psychics.

Truth is not found in man’s philosophy or in the occult but solely in the word of God.  Jesus knew this and that is on what he relied.

Father May we never fail to see that truth comes from your word and only your word. Amen
