Consider the lilies[1]

Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

The other day my truck would not start.  I had had several warnings this was going to happen.  These warnings came at places that if the battery had died I would have had a real problem.  Both warnings came at the lake as I was working on getting my boat ready for the winter.  The battery finally died while my truck was parked in the garage.  If it had started on more time I would have been changing a battery in the middle of a violent rainstorm.  However the battery chose to die in the garage.

Some may feel this was a coincidence.  Or I was just lucky because many other times I would have wound up changing the battery in the rain.  In many incidences I would agree but not this time.  I was really feeling burned out, defeat and doubt was creeping in.  I really needed a lift.  Many times at our lowest points God makes his presence known and reminds us of the Lilies of the Field.[2]

Father thank you for the gentle and sometimes not so gentle reminders of your presence.  May we remember the lilies of the field and know who is in control. Amen
