The Christmas Star
Matthew 2:2
Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in
the east, and are come to worship him.
Teaching Aid a Christmas Ornament
Do you enjoy the decorations during this time of
year? Do you like to be part of the
process and decorate for the holidays?
For several years I decorated the Blue spruce tree
in the front yard with Christmas lights.
However it soon got so big that I could not even reach high enough to
retrieve the lights already on the tree.
The last year I decorated I had to stand, contrary to the instructions
and warnings, on the very top step of the ladder and extend two ski poles duct
taped together to be able to place the ornament on the top of the tree.
My particular top ornament was a cross-formed by a
cluster of lights. I wanted to leave no
doubt about the reason for the season. Unfortunately many things like the
Christmas star and the gifts of the Magi have become so commonplace that we
tend to associate them with the season and forget the real meaning behind them.
That
Christmas Star led to a Cross-upon Calvary and the greatest gift of all. Because of its light and power though we
were lost now we are found.
Father as the Wise Men followed the Star searching
for the Christ Child you have diligently sought us out. The true reason for the Season was that he
came to rally our souls to him and in doing so give us the greatest of all
gifts forgiveness and salvation. We
accept his gift and give you thanks and praise and glory in the name of our
Savior Amen.
