Background

Somewhere around her 11th year of life, in a fit of depression after the death of her father, Valerica started experimenting with cutting herself. She found that she enjoyed the pain of the experience, it made her feel more alive. Within years she researched and found other methods of self inflicted pain, experimenting with them, much to the distress of her mother. She found that she hated the modern world, feeling lost and alone in its harsh ambivalence. There were no rites to mark her journey through life, except losing her virginity and regularly getting into fights, but any animal could do that. Shortly after her 15th birthday, she met a man who introduced her to a whole new world of pain while they were dating. His teachings usually took the form of various deranged and most often sadistic sexual acts. She found the more she experienced, the more she wanted. A couple years later, while doing research one evening for one of her pre-med classes, she came across a copy of Musafar’s Dances Sacred and Profane and it quickly became her bible as her world suddenly opened up. It talked about the very things her life was lacking, and she realized that pain wasn’t about enduring, it was about celebrating existence and marking her way. She found a tattoo artist willing to use her body as a canvas while attending med school. Shortly after finishing school, she traveled to South Africa, thru the jungles of South America, and to Samoa seeking authentic tribal tattoos, nearly dieing from the experience. This only made her enjoy it more, making her seek out new, more exotic and horrific tests, pushing the limits of her pain tolerance to new heights. After enduring hot and cold branding and various body piercings, she moved back to Houston to settle down and open a tattoo parlor. Soon after she met a man who introduced her to fetish parties where artists would use humans as their canvases as they used scalpels to carve into the flesh for the entertainment of others. Many nights she was the canvas, never once screaming out in pain. This attracted the Sabbat to her, and the man who would become her Sire. It was at one of these parties that she was Embraced and left for dead. Soon after that, she returned to her medical studies, soon adding a “House of Pain” to her tattoo parlor to cater to the poor, misunderstood sadistic and masochistic souls who thrive in the commerce of pain, until as series of unfortunate event led her to be forced to run.

As she was growing up in Houston, her father was not into religion at all, though her mother was. Her father had told her mother that religion would not be discussed in the house, thus raising the children with no religion in their lives other than what they learned through the courses of school and what they got from friends. After her father was murdered when she was 10, her mother began teaching and preaching religion to the children, trying to “save their souls after their father had made them lose it from lack of learning”. This only made Valerica rebel. Shortly after she was embraced, she returned to her mother’s house one evening to talk to her and to take her sister with her. Valerica and her mother got into a very bad fight that night and when she awoke the next evening in her mother’s bed, next to her cold, heartless body, she almost lost her mind. Memories of the previous night slowly filtered into her mind. They had fought, her mother repeatedly telling her that she should turn to God and beg him for forgiveness and salvation. Valerica told her what was in her heart; how could you believe in a God that would let her father be murdered and taken from them? How could she believe in a God that had let some fiend turn her into what she had become? Upon hearing and seeing what Valerica had become, a vampire, the look of horror on her mother’s face was almost too much to bear. Mother once again begged her to repent, to beg God for salvation, and Valerica lost it. She advanced on her mother, screaming at her about how she could never believe in a God that had forsaken his children and that she would not leave her brother and sister in the hands of someone who would try to force someone to believe in him either. The more her mother screamed at her, begged her to repent, the angrier Valerica got, until she finally showed her mother EXACTLY what she had become. Valerica advanced on her mother, grabbing her and sinking her teeth into her throat, her fingers ripping her throat open to silence her screams. Before she had drained her completely, she savagely ripped her heart from her chest and ate it, savoring the taste.

For ten years after that night she ran from those that would try to kill her for what she was, all the while hunting for the man who embraced her. When she finally did, she made him teach her everything he knew about the new abilities so that she could use them to their fullest potential. She spent 8 years in one of his dungeons, never allowed to feed to her full strength, being bound and taught and tortured. He never once introduced her to anyone he knew, only occasionally bringing in one or another of what he called his “brothers” to share in the joy of torturing his “toy”. Through use of his skills and abilities, he added brands and more tattoos to her hide, as well as a set of 10 evenly spaced steel rings, 5 on either side of her spine, that he crafted into her bone and flesh, among other various changes to her physical form.

One night, he made the mistake of leaving her alone with one of his weaker mortals, and she took full advantage of it, draining every drop of the poor sap’s blood to regain her full strength. When her Sire had returned to the room to find his servant dead and his childe freed of her bonds, Valerica used the surprise to her advantage, capturing him and putting him in the position she herself was so recently in. She spent the next 6 years practicing what she had learned from her Sire on him, keeping him in the same drained state he once kept her in, pushing his limits over and over again on a nightly basis as he had once done to her. And when one of his brothers or sisters had come calling, at first she told them honestly that he was... indisposed. She knew that would not hold them for long, and soon began telling them that he was on some trip to one place or another, then eventually that he had just stopped contacting her and she knew not where he was, until eventually one night a pack of his siblings came after her. She barely escaped with her life, and spent the next 10 years running from city to city, always getting in with the BDSM crowds, opening a tat shop wherever she went, and leaving it to one of her employees when she had to suddenly leave. 20 Years ago, she moved home, to Romania, hiding in her family’s castle, until she thought it might be safe enough to roam the outside world.
