VIDEO: "Hot Fuzz" featuring "Letters From The Sky" by Civil Twilight
Celebrate the final hours of Hot Fuzz being Edgar Wright's peak 'til you see Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.
With Scott Pilgrim just on the horizon, and with Shaun of the Dead already covered, it seemed as right a time as ever to give the same ol' Dizzle treatment to the action/comedy opus that is Hot Fuzz.
I remember seeing this one in theaters, having been infected (PUNTASM!) by the stylings of Shaun of the Dead. I enjoyed it, but the first viewing didn't convince me that it was quite on the level of the previous classic. Luckily, once I got the chance to see it a 2nd time (and a third... and forth...), it solidified it's reputation alongside Shaun of the Dead as being a movie you can watch time and time again and still pick up on little nods or details that you might not have caught the first (thousand) times through.
While I knew it was a video I had wanted to tackle, I put other projects ahead of it until the soundtrack crept up on me, which happened on the way home from work today when Civil Twilight popped on my iPod. Hey, it may be a song that has been rocking for almost 2 years across, but it fit the feel I wanted for the highlights.
If you're in the dark on Hot Fuzz: it's an action movie send-up in the same way that Shaun of the Dead sent up zombie movies, with Bad Boys II & Point Break leading the pack of the directly referenced, among plenty others. My favorite thing about it being that even though it's an action comedy, it still has the body count horror feel established in Shaun of the Dead. I only hope it's a feel they go with on the next film the group does together.
So as the clock ticks closer to midnight and the release of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, without further ado, Dizzle presents to you "Hot Fuzz" featuring "Letters From The Sky" by Civil Twilight. You may proceed.
