The Early 911s (1963-1969) were powered by a 2.0L (Figure 3.1) engine like that above. This was also a change from the 356 which was powered by a 4 cylinder boxer engine similar to a VW Beetle's engine. The 2.0L s started with 130 PS in the early years and before their replacement with the 2.2L they had 170PS. This is only half the power that the new naturally aspirated 996s have.
