Beginn
First unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1963, the 901 became Porsche's first new model since 1948 with the birth 356. An example of a 356 (Figure 2.1) in Charleston, SC taken during the 356 Registry's East Coast Holiday on Church Street. It was not until late 1964 before Porsche started full production of their new car. Because of some trademark problems the 901 became the 911. Peugeot claimed that all car models that had a 0 in the middle belonged to them. Below is a modified Evolution Outline up to 1967 taken from the Book Original Porsche 911 by Peter Morgan.

Now almost 40 years later the 911 is still being produced. The original shape is still present in today's performance machines. Figure 2.2 shows a 996 model the current 911.

History of 302382
I first saw this car in a local paper in 1998 for around $6000. It was in nice shape but need a little TLC to get her back on the road. At the same time I was in high school and get very interested in Muscle Cars. The same time I saw the Porsche was on the way to go look at a Chevelle. Well I decided to get the Porsche because there are not too many of them on the road. Two years later I did get a Chevelle and played with it for a while , but it was sold to pay for some parts and service on the 911.
Initial Condition
This 911 is the 2382nd regular production 911 off the line at Stuttgart. Currently it is some sort of British Racing Green. The original color was color code 6606 Irish Green. This car came with the gas heater located in the front near the gas tank. I still have not tried this, as I am afraid of starting any fires in my car especially near the gas tank. This car is also equipped with a sunroof, but I am still researching when it was installed. With the car is the original owner's manual, tool set, vehicle diary form first owner, and all the receipts dating back to the early 1970's. When I first got the car the carpet was in pretty far gone, the worst being in the trunk which I replaced with a more modern carpet set. The headliner is also in need of repair and is on my list of repairs to come. The original steering wheel was not installed, it's horn button was missing and it needed to be restored. In it's place was a Fittipaldi aftermarket steering wheel. On the mechanical side, the engine with over 227,000 miles is in good condition after some minor tuning from sitting too long the car was ready to be driven. The car had been de-chromed by a previous owner or it just had not been replaced. The original radio was installed although it did not provide sound to the single speaker in the center of the dash.
