Previous story:

Since his death, the world has become chaotic due to the lack of a great leader. In the mist of this chaos, the second "Dead or Alive World Combat Tournament" has taken place. However, the true purpose and significance of the tournament have been lost due to the death of Douglas.

What is worse is that the new evil organiser is responsible for Douglas's death. His involvement in the tournament has caused terror among the whole world, resulting the infamous "Tengu Disaster" to occur at the end of the century.

DOA3 story:

This is when DOATEC's Development Department, a fortress for state-of-the-art military technology, witnesses the success of a genius. Following Project Alpha and Project Epsilon, the ever-ambitious Dr. Victor Donovan completes the Project Omega, producing a new superhuman. His creation is called "Genra".

This man, who was once the leader of Hajinmon clan, is no longer human. He, or It, is a force of singular and unprecedented capability. A slaughterhouse has now been provided as the exclusive domain of the Omega superhuman. It is a realm that has come to be known as the "Dead or Alive 3 World Combat Tournament".
