The Sun Devil Stadium is situated in the campus of the Arizona State University , Phoenix suburb of the Tempe . Sun Devil is the home arena of the Arizona State Sun Devils college football team and the NFL's Arizona Cardinals. The stadium was built in 1958 and has a capacity of accommodating 73,379. The stadium is host to college football's Fiesta Bowl each year around New Year's Day. It was also the witness to the Super Bowl XXX in 1996. Sun Devil Stadium became an NFL stadium in 1988 as the St. Louis Cardinals shifted to Arizona and was renamed as Phoenix Cardinals. In 2006, the Cardinals will shift from Sun Devil Stadium to their new home arena. The new stadium will have retractable-roof located in another Phoenix suburb, Glendale . The new stadium will host the Fiesta Bowl and any other Super Bowls which comes to Phoenix area.
