Enquiring MindTherefore David enquired of the LORD, and He said You shall not go up; circle around behind them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees (2 Samuel 5:23) Ever since Biblical times, enquiring minds want to know. When David made this enquiry he had just fought the Philistines, and gained a victory. The Philistines came up in great numbers, but, by the help of God, David easily put them to flight. But when they came a second time, David was faithful to God and did not go up to fight them without enquiring of Him. David had been victorious, he could have rested on his laurels and could have said with pride, I am sure that if I have conquered once I shall triumph again. Why should I seek God? Not so for David, for he was a man after Gods own heart. He had gained victory from one battle by the strength of God and he would not venture upon another until he had ensured the same victory. He enquired of God,
Shall I go up against them? He waited until Gods sign
was given and the victory was his. Learn from David to take no step
without God, to wait until He directs us to move. We must mark Gods
providence leading us, and if He delays, wait patiently for His timing.
I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should
go, is Gods promise to His people. Let us, then, cast all
our cares and anxieties on Him, and say, LORD, what will You have
me do? Copyright © 2002 Eddy Ministries. All rights reserved. Subscribe/Unsubscribe:
