Minority Report

“If the LORD delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land which flows with milk and honey. Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the LORD is with us. Do not fear them.” (Numbers 14:8)

Long before Tom Cruise brought the script to Steven Spielberg to make Minority Report, Joshua and Caleb were making their own without any precogs based solely on their trust
in God. They were The Spies Who Loved God out of 12 who gave a good report about taking the Promised Land. The other ten were Chicken Run cowards who gave the bad report because they did not see that God was with them and were afraid of the nephilim or giants in the land. But because they were outnumbered by the convincing majority who see themselves as grasshoppers (Numbers 13:33), their good report was the Minority Report and they were about to get stoned, literally, until God showed up.

In this Godless society that we live in, whenever we are on fire for God or live by His Word, we are in the minority, but with God on our side, we become a force that no Dr Evil or Mini Me can defeat. In fact, God plus you equal a majority. So if the world laughs at you when you read your Bible at break times, pray over your food, meditate on the Word, carry a Bible on Sunday, keep the sabbath, tithe, give offerings or refuse to shack up with your boyfriend until he puts a rock on your finger – you just keep on keeping on knowing that God is with you and you will be rewarded for your obedience. In God’s economy, since His wisdom is so much higher than ours and His strength is made perfect in our weakness, the minority actually rules and that is the Minority Report you’ll never get from Hollywood.
