Irfanview is more amazing with each release. I just downloaded version 3.80 and discovered some great features (some features debuted in an earlier version but I am discovering them for the first time now).
First is the Slideshow option. Slideshow will allow you to:
| Select the pictures to include in your show, or load a previously saved list; Arrange them in any order that you like; Play the slideshow, or save the list to show later, or create a standalone program* (.EXE), or create a screensaver* (.SCR), or create a data CD**, or create a video CD** |
The .EXE and .SCR functions work flawlessly. It's now a very simple matter to create your own slideshow to share with family and friends (as long as they have a compatible computer).
The data CD format should be usable by anyone with a computer equipped with a CDROM drive, while the video CD can be played on DVD players.
NOTE: the two CD options require the Nero CD writing software. Although I have Nero, I was unsuccessful in creating either CD format. I'll update this page when I figure out why.
Secondly, Irfanview now has support for Webshots formats (.WBC and .WBZ). Webshots collections or WBC files are shown as multipage images (use the up/down arrows to view). Also, did you know you can use the wheel on your mouse instead of the space/backspace keys to move forward/backward through the pictures?
Thirdly, the "Save selected thumbs as an HTML file" has been greatly improved. Now an HTML page is created for each picture with "previous/next" navigation links, automatically! Check out this slideshow I created.***
