After you have meticulously set up your Windows desktop with the icons and windows placed just so, wouldn't it be nice to keep it that way?

This is where IconLock comes in. You save and restore desktop layouts from the IconLock menu. "Quick Save/Restore" saves and restores layouts for each screen resolution and you don't even have to specify a name for the layout. "Save As.../Restore..." does let you specify names, so you can choose from multiple layouts for each resolution.

IconLock also has a Lock Desktop feature. This prevents users from making changes to your desktop layout. You can specify which actions are disabled for desktop icons and you can/should password protect this feature for even better security. Even the Start Menu can be locked, permitting Shutdown as the only option. The lockout features are great if you have need of them. However, saving and restoring desktop layouts is the only feature of IconLock that I use on a regular basis.

*TIP* To save time and reduce finger fatigue, set your middle mouse button to "double-click".
The middle mouse button is hardly used in Windows so I set it to send a double click instead. I also set the double click speed to the fastest setting making it virtually impossible to accidentally double-click with the left mouse button.
