Foreward
By Daniel M. Pietraszewski II

I am honored to present this special edition of PPS, which began as an outpouring of poems posted on our forum, following the September 11 attacks. When I first suggested putting up this issue, poet Wendy Howe responded, "Poetry is a voice that bridges many lives and helps to both heal and inspire the wounded soul as well." I thought of her words often, as this came together.

The lyrics to "A Moment in America" are from a song, written by Colin Harfield, the day after the attack. He will be recording it, and I will be providing more info. Besides a musician & songwriter, Colin is also Worship Leader at Rockpointe Community Church. Michelle Legare is an old friend & publishes the online ezine, Poetry breathes. Kurt Nimmo hardly needs any introduction, poet, photographer, musician, former publisher of Planet Detroit. It's touching to note that not all contributers are American. Averil Bones is an Australian poet, published in many publications and anthologies. Donna Michelle Hill resides in British Columbia, and has been with PPS several years now. The closing poem is a collaboration with my father.

I'll spare everyone the socio-political Commentary, and let the poets speak...
