The Twitter conversation below appears to have started when Veronika Ferdman (whose tweets are non-public) tweeted something about, presumably, Brian De Palma's Passion. Peter Labuza is crazy about De Palma's latest film, and has written perhaps the most enthusiastic review of Passion so far.

NEW 'PASSION' INTERVIEW CLIPS
WITH RACHEL MCADAMS AND NOOMI RAPACE

There are two new interview clips from the set of Passion (links below). Thanks to Marina for letting us know about the Noomi Rapace clip, in which Rapace discusses how the four main actors melted their characters in with themselves, and were "soaked into this world of passion, in a way". In the other clip, Rachel McAdams talks about her character as someone who is "quite damaged," and how that comes out more and more as the film goes on. "She's sort of dealing with all kinds of demons," says McAdams in the video, "and I think she's quite lost. And I'm not sure that she's going to find her way back."

SPOILER-ISH 'PASSION' CLIP POSTED AT DSHINI
DUBBED IN GERMAN

Another German-dubbed clip from Passion was posted yesterday at Dshini (link below). This one really puts a distinct De Palma twist on a situation from Alain Corneau's Love Crime, and could be said to be a spoiler, if you don't already know the story. But the way De Palma does it, it has an even more visceral effect, which also adds to the spoiler-ish aspect of the clip. In other words, if you don't want to know much about it before you see the actual film, don't watch this clip, titled "Telefonterror."

MOVIE CLIP, AND A THIRD DE PALMA INTERVIEW CLIP

More Passion videos have appeared at the Dshini website today, including two new clips from the movie: the scene in which Christine hurls her phone across the room (which is also available on YouTube). And a previously unavailable scene in which Christine takes credit for Isabelle's idea. There is also a great new interview clip with Brian De Palma in which he explains what Passion is really about. The image above is from the start of "Der Pitch" clip that I posted a link to earlier today. I like how the start of the clip features an ad-in-motion for the ballet Afternoon Of A Faun hovering over the shot of Rachel McAdams walking into the corporate building, the faces turning toward the viewer/audience/passerby as if portending some sort of eerie fate.

'PASSION' U.S. IN JULY, SAYS EW SUMMER PREVIEW
AND TWO MORE 'PASSION' CLIPS FROM GERMANY

Thanks to Marina for letting us know about the YouTube video above, which features two clips from Brian De Palma's Passion, dubbed in German (the film opens in Germany May 2nd). [Slight spoilers in the rest of this paragraph.] The first clip is the "Call me never!" scene in which Rachel McAdams, stunningly gorgeous in robe and lingerie, angrily throws her phone across the room. The second clip is the crux of the whole piece, in which Noomi Rapace's Isabelle is humiliated in public by McAdams' Christine. The beautifully mournful Donaggio music juxtaposed with Isabelle's crying-on-the-inside laugh recalls similar moments in De Palma's two most recent previous features: The Black Dahlia, when Elizabeth Short wipes away tears to smile for the camera (and her cold, detached director); and the final scene in Redacted, which finds a soldier being swayed by the crowd to smile for the camera as a Puccini aria begins to swell underneath.

Between these two scenes, and the one posted yesterday, the film is really looking good to me (albeit dubbed in German). The Donaggio score as Karoline looks hurtfully through the window at the two lovers enjoying each others' company makes for a sublime moment of sadness, as well. Can't wait to see how it all fits together the way it was meant to be seen.

Speaking of which, Entertainment Weekly's "Summer Movie Preview" issue is out now, and it lists Passion for July, with an exact date to be announced. Here's the brief included by Grady Smith in the "Also Playing" sidebar for July:

"Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace each have a ruthless PASSION for success at an ad agency, and they'll do whatever (and whomever) it takes to get ahead in Brian De Palma's kinky thriller."
