"WE'RE AMERICANS-- WE READ YOU'RE EMAILS!"
Hello and welcome to the unofficial Brian De Palma website.
Here is the latest news:

Guy Pearce line "we're Americans. We read your e-mails" is cringe-inducing.
The single-shot sequence when Christian gets a sandwich with Carice Van Houten, the acting is bad community theatre acting that had me wanting to stab my ears. The acting in this mangled piece of film-making belongs in the waste-bin of society.
De Palma should have had an immersive sequence in the way the terrorists were editing these videos for the web. Something similar to the way Travolta assembled the assassination film sync to sound in Blow Out. There was no such sequence.
I do wish there's an alterned cut to this movie that one day will come out. At least I can always hope because De Palma is a better director then what Domino turned out with a few nifty sequences that couldn't save the end product.

I disagree with you regarding the acting here, and especially Guy Pearce's line-- I think it's perfect-- a hilarious throwaway delivered in dead-in-the-water frustration just before his quick exit from the film.

In any case, the thrust of this post was to compare the two moments above-- the movement and attitude of Joe's exit in DOMINO echoes the moment above it from BODY DOUBLE, where Sam Bouchard (Gregg Henry) is purposely making a scene. We will later find out it's all part of his elaborate manipulations of Jake and Jake's surroundings to make sure Jake is patsy witness to a murder.
And of course, Joe in DOMINO is all about using others for his schemes, lying to Ezra to get what he wants out of him, reading everybody's emails :D, etc.
In both scenes, the character is chastising another character as they make their exit-- in BODY DOUBLE, it's Sam chastizing the acting instructor ("What gives you the right to fuck with this guy's head?"), and in DOMINO, Joe is irritated that Alex has killed Ezra ("You feel good, avenging your lover?"). That scene ends with one of the most interesting bittersweet punchlines, when Alex falls into Christian's arms, still somewhat in a daze, saying, "I do feel better."

Just watched Domino and my first Brian De Palma movie.
This movie goddamn awful. The director make his actors look awful.
The script is a mess. This is my first movie from this director and
likely my last.
