Name: "Bill Fentum"
I preordered this disc and received it yesterday. Happy to report, it’s a near-perfect HD transfer, a home video version that finally does justice to Vilmos Zsigmond’s work in the film!
Only problem, the contrast is too high in a few dark interior shots – mostly in the last half hour, for some reason – so a bit of detail that was visible in the 2001 DVD slips into blackness. But it’s not often … a minor issue, really. And nice to have the screenplay draft, WOTAN’S WAKE and THE RESPONSIVE EYE – both also in 1080p, though yeah, the condition is ragged.

Name: "Bill Fentum"One more odd choice by Arrow Video: Non-removable English subtitles were added for the few snatches of Italian dialogue in the Florence scenes. But at least now, anyone who doesn’t speak Italian will know LaSalle does indeed tell D’Annunzio he’s “as wise as Caesar and as honest as the pope.”
