RICARDO ARREBARREN
He is in his early forties. Uses glasses only to read. He is an educated
man, sure of himself, almost a loner. He is an engineer and works
for an insurance company investigating possible frauds in the claims. Although
he earns a good salary he is not too careful in his dressing habits. He
has a keen, investigative mind. Behind his gruff manners hides a sensitive
person flawed by the loss of a loved woman.
ELISABETH ROSSIGNOL
An attractive, elegant woman in her early forties, very sensual. A natural
born seducer. Her life is an enigma. She lives alone in a large mansion,
full of Torres paintings, some authentic and others perhaps forgeries.She
has teamed up with Philip Weis, a Cuban-American art dealer living in New
York ,who is the head of a large gallery specializing in latin american
art. She becomes aware of her power of seducing Ricardo, and uses that
abbility deftly to suit her own purposes.
BETO, OSMEÑA, WYSS
Three characters given life by the same player. He has a marked homosexual
characterisitic, but always a person of quality.
As BETO he assists Insausti the art dealer. In fact he supervises the
dealer’s investigations when he tries to authenticate several works
of Torres.
As OSMEÑA he is referred by Elisabeth everytime the investigator
asks who is assisting her. He never appears personally under this guise.This
name is used as a foil by the woman
As PHILIP WYSS, he is the Cuban-American art dealer that heads an important
gallery in New York. He is a prominent player in the large forgery destined
to fulfill the whims of a Japanese millionaire.
JOSE INSAUSTI
A knowledgeable art dealer in his late fifties. His homosexual manners
are subtle and he dresses conservatively. He is shy, prone to panic, meticulous
and kind with his clients. He is an innocent in a cruel world. That’s why
he is the ideal middle man for the caper and its first victim.
SERAPIO
Mexican, ex diplomat, in his late thirties.He is fun to have around,
and is Ricardo’s best friend. He resigned his post in the embassy after
helping Olga flee the military regime. He has married Christine, the daughter
of the owner of the Insurance company where he works with Ricardo.
CHRISTINE
She works in her father’s office and is married to Serapio, and a good
friend of Ricardo. She is the typical business woman, efficient and
practical. At night she works as a singer in a nightclub.
ANA
In her late twenties, an atractive and kind woman, friend of Olga.
She is Ricardo’s real love, but her activities as a revolutionary brings
a harsh repression from the military regime. She numbers among the disappeared
persons of the regime.
OLGA
A friend of Ana and Ricardo. She managed to escape the military regime
helped by Serapio. She now lives in Sao Paulo and is an expert in latin
american art. She is the living memory of a time that Ricardo cherishes.
She is a key piece in Ricardo’s investigation of the forgery.
GONZALITO
One of the best pupils of Torres Garcia. He is now old and lives in
a world of alcohol. He is the key to the whole forgery and another
of the early victims.
