New York Jets

Week of Nov. 22nd

Every year my friends and I go on the road to a Jet game to experience a game in enemy territory. We've gone to 4 already....and all were an absolute blast. Next year...somewhere closer!

Jets vs. Pats, Nov 1996

4 years ago we traveled up to New England's Foxborough
Sadium. It was kind of a spur of the moment trip...we didn't even have tickets or a place to stay. We got there at about midnight the day of the game..and found some dive motel. Rich was crazy drunk and ripped license plates off of cars for momentos and tackled some whicker fences (not to mention chasing cars on foot down 95).
No scalping of tickets up there...but we managed to get some reserve seats in the endszone. The Jets lost this one....and we went home sorry and sore (Rich and Adam were pretty happy...they're Pat fans)

Jets vs. Lions, Dec, 1997

3 years ago...we went to Detriot for a wild one against the Lions. It was another 2-day trip, except this one was planned really well by Marks wife Melissa. We had tickets and a great place to stay before we started the journey. Mark drove both ways..non-stop(he's a real trooper) We played some great games of football in the hotel room.
Jets' fans were very very hard to come by up there...although we did get to meet Wayne Chreabet's parents. This game had playoff implications....if the Jets would win this game...they were in. But hey...this is the Jets we're talking about. They lost. At least we got to see Sanders get over the 2000yds marker. We also saw Reggie Brown get knocked out ...pretty scary.
The stadium was pretty dumpy outside...but a beauty inside...with the loudest crowd I have ever heard. Derek and I weren't too happy with the outcome of this one...but Mark's a huge Lions fan...so he had the energy to drive 10hrs home right after the game.

Jets vs. Bills, Dec 1998

Last year we went up to Buffalo to see a diferent Jets team...a team that could win their division with a win over the Bills. This trip, like the others was a 2day event. We stayed in some hotel..but the only thing I remember was that there was a Hooters right next door.
It was quite warm up there...not like we expected. In fact..the morning of the game, it was raining(quite disapointing). It cleared up though.
The stadium is right in the middle of a small town. People rented their lawns for fans to park on(we paid $5). It took hours to get in and out of. The fans were pretty easy though..even with 4 of us draped in green, very few of them bothered us.
This was the Jets day....and we finally got to leave a road game with a big win. We capped off the day by cooking up some steaks in some guys front yard(they weren't even home) . Pete got us some really good ones.
Another great trip....this year....on November 28th, we'll be driving 15hrs to the RCA dome, where we'll enjoy the Jets kickin some Colt butt.

Jets vs. Colts, Nov 29th '99

This year we stole Dereks' father's van and trucked it westward like kid rock. We drove 13hrs and made it to the awesome town of Indianapolis. The City is simply beautiful. Very clean and the people were a little too nice to be human. We had a great time at the bars and clubs the night before meeting some pretty cool people. The day of the game, we walked around town instead of sleeping off our terrible hangovers. This paid off. We met Wayne Chrebet's father (who we met at our Detroit trip..but he didn't remember us) He's a pretty nice guy. We also bumped into Phil Simms who was getting ready to head off to the game. During our lunch in town, K Mike Vanderjagt's mother introduced herself to us, also a very nice person. Right before the game...we went to where the Jets players were staying...and we met Testaverde, V.Green, Bobby Hamilton (who is the nicest player on the Jets), Jumbo Elliot, Dwayne Gordon, Marcus Coleman, and a few others we weren't able to identify. Vinny did have a noticable limp, so I am trashing my theory that he is faking it. The fans at the game were harmless. There was one Jet fan in our section who acted like a complete ass and really pissed us off, but you always have one fool in the crowd. The trip was by far the best we've had, even though the Jets lost...again. Next year we're hoping for a closer trip..we spent 26 hours in a car..and only 24 hours in Indianapolis. We'd like to spend more time partying and less time driving.
