Chapter 8: The Departure
The days that followed were all the same, Reanna only spoke a few words to
Ann
and Dana. She either slept or read. Kevin couldn’t bring himself to talk to
her, he still
didn’t know what to say. He had begun to make arrangements for the tour
ahead. He had
got Nick’s old tutor to teach Reanna. He had also got the plane tickets for
the flight to
Europe for everyone. It was only a few days until they had to leave. Kevin
had been
going to rehearsal for the last several days and now had to pack. He also
packed all of
Reanna’s and Dana’s clothes for the trip. The day before the flight, Sarah
spent the
nightover at Ann’s. She didn’t talk to Kevin or Ann that much, just Reanna.
Reanna and
Sarah retired to Ann’s room to talk. Kevin passed by the room when he
overheard them
talking and decided to listen for awhile.
Sarah said “Reanna, I’m going to miss you so much. I wish you could stay.”
Reanna solemnly said, “I don’t want to go but I can’t stay here.” Sarah
sounded startled
as she asked “What do you mean?”
“I mean there are too many memories here,
if I stay
here, I’ll go crazy. I’ve tried to forget and move on, but I can’t, not
here, so I’m going to
leave with the guys and try to forget. I need to bury my past and go on with
my life.I just
don’t know if I can. So much crap has happened has happened in my life, that
I don’t
know.” Reanna said as she placed her head in her hands. Sarah patted her on
the back
and said, “Oh sweetie I wish I knew what to say. All I know is everything
will work out.”
Sarah hugged her and curled up on the bed. They both crawled under the
covers. Reanna
sighed and whispered “I hope you’re right.” Reanna switched off the lights
and there was
no more talking, just the sound of deep breathing. Kevin’s heart sank and
wished he
could help her forget, but he knew he couldn’t, that was something she had
to do by
herself.
The next morning, Sarah accompanied them to the airport. Reanna was
completely silent the entire trip to the airport. She knew her life was
about to take
another drastic turn, but she didn’t know what way it would go. She was so
scared and
confused, she just wanted everything to be the way it was.
They arrived at the airport. They all said their goodbye at the terminal
gate except
for Reanna. Reanna hugged Ann as she said, “Call me if you need to talk.”
Reanna
nodded slightly and moved onto Sarah. Sarah gave her a hug and said, “Write
me, okay?
Just know that everything will work out.” Reanna released herself from the
embraced
said loud enough for the rest of the guys to hear, “I wish I could believe
you.” Reanna
turned away from her past and picked up Dana as she walked by the guys and
then
continued down the hall to the plane. She walked away from her past and now
all she had
to do is forget. She knew that wouldn’t be easy.
