Chapter 14: It fits you better
***A YEAR LATER***
“Hey, Brian where are you?” Reanna called out. “Over here.” Reanna
bounded
over to where he was, AJ, Howie and Nick were with him. They were shopping
in
Orlando for Reanna’s late birthday present, they were finally off on
vacation. They were
off for two months and then back to to the studio for their next album.
Reanna had also
celebrated her one year sobriety. She had now become closer to Kevin and
the rest of the
guys, she also had a better relationship with Dana. She had now accepted
Kevin as her
father, but never admitted that to him. “Where’s Kevin?” “He’s outside
with Dana.”
Howie said as he picked up a shirt. Reanna walked out into the warm air and
saw Kevin
and Dana sitting on a bench. She walked over and smiled at them, “Hey,
what’s up kitty
cat?” Kevin answered back, “Not much chicka duck.” Reanna smiled again
towards
Kevin’s laughter. Then he asked, “Where’s the other guys?” Reanna pointed
back to the
store and replied, “They are still inside helping Howie find the perfect
gift for his
precious girlfriend.” Kevin’s eyes lit up and he exclaimed, “I almost
forgot, I got you
guys something!” He reached down into his bag and pulled out a stuffed
kitten and said
to Dana, “I know you want a real one, but intil things settle down, this
will have to do.”
Dana took the kitten into her arms and smiled ear to ear, “Thank you soo
much!! I love
my kitty cat!” She ran into the store to show the other guys what she had
got from
“Daddy”. Kevin pulled out a small box and handed it to Reanna, “I hope you
like it.”
Reanna opened the box to find a silver locket, she smiled at Kevin and
opened it up to
find a small picture of Kevin and her, on the other side there was an
enscription it said
‘I love you more than you’ll ever know, Love Kevin.’
Reanna felt the tears well up in her eyes and she gave him a hug. “This is
the best gift I’ve ever gotten, thank you so much
this means so much to me.” Kevin smiled and he said, “Well, I’m glad that
you like it,
would you mind going to that icecream stand and buying us some?” Reanna
smiled and
said, “Yeah, I’ll be right back.” She grabbed some money from Kevin and ran
off to the
stand. While she was waiting in line, two old ladies came up behind her,
they were
jabbering like two old hens. Reanna thought it would be polite to let them
go first, so she
let them go first. As the two old ladies went in front, one of them turned
and said, “I
thought you looked like a nice young lady when I saw you.” The other one
scolded,
“Mildred, don’t be impolite.” Mildred looked at the other one and replied,
“Maggie, it’s
not being rude, it’s making conversation.” She turned back to Reanna and
smiled.
Reanna asked, “Do I know you?” Mildred shook her head, “No, I just saw you
sitting
over there on that bench with your dad and thought to myself that young lady
looks nice.”
Reanna started to say, “No he’s---” Mildred went on, “You know I think that
my grand
daughter has a picture of your dad in some sort of group, she likes them
very much. You
should be proud of him...You two look so much alike, anyone could tell you
two were
related, I bet you look a lot like your mother too.” By this time Reanna
was looking at
Kevin and realized that they did look alike. The old ladies had now gotten
their icecream
and were leaving, “It was nice talking to you, tell your father I said that
his daughter was
really sweet.” With that they were gone. Reanna stood there and smiled,
she realized
that she had the greatest family and she wouldn’t trade it for anything.
She got the icecream and ran back to the bench, Kevin was now walking into
the
store to get the guys. She called after him, “Dad, dad wait up!” Kevin
stopped dead in
his tracks, had his ears decieved him? He turned back around to find Reanna
standing
there with the icecream. He asked, “Did you just call me ‘Dad’?” “Yeah, I
did dad.”
Reanna simply replied. “Why?” “I dunno, it just seemed to fit you more.”
Kevin smiled
and pulled her into a hug, “Reanna you are the best, I love you.” Reanna
looked up at
him and smiled, I love you too, dad.” Then they both realized that Reanna
was still
holding iceream. They laughed and went into the department store, leaving
behind all
the things that had haunted them in the past year. Finally, they were right
where they
belonged, they were now the family that was always meant to be. Kevin
thought of the
night in Paris where AJ had said, ‘Have I ever been wrong?’ He smiled and
said to
himself, ‘No AJ you’re not.’
