Chp 1
Chapter 1: The Birthday
“Happy Birthday Reanna!!” Dana squealed with delight as she hugged her twelve
year old sister. Reanna smiled at her hyper two year old sister. Reanna straightened up
and walked over to her mom who was cutting the cake. Reanna thought her mom was the
prettiest woman in the world, she was glad that she had inherited most of her moms
traits. She had medium long brown hair and green eyes just like her mom. Her mom
smiled and said “How’s the birthday girl?”
“I’m fine, hey when’s Kevin and them
coming?” Before her mother could answer, they heard Dana squeal with joy “A.J.! A.J.!”
Just then Dana flew past her mom and sister, straight to A.J., and hugged his knee. A.J.
scooped her up in his arms and said “How’s my princess?”
“I’m just dandy!!” She
giggled as she wrapped her little arms around his neck. A.J. walked over to Reanna and
her mom were. He put Dana down and hugged them both.
“The guys should be here any
moment” He said as he placed his gift down. Sure enough the rest of the guys came
toting gifts. Reanna’s friend Sarah came over and the party started. She received many
things from a basketball from Brian, to a picture of her drawn in crayola from Dana.
As everyone played around with the gifts, Jill sat and watched. Kevin came
strolling up.
“Hey girl! you did great on the party.” He remarked.
“Thanks Kev...” Jill’s
voice trailed off.
“What’s wrong?” Kevin inquired.
Jill looked at him worriedly and said
“I know this isn’t the best time to bring it up, but would you take care of Reanna and
Dana if anything happens to me, I couldn’t stand to put them into foster care.”
“But
nothing--” Kevin began, but Jill insisted. “Just promise me Kevin that you will.”
Kevin
smiled and hugged her. “I will, I promise you."
