The most talented player on the Miami HEAT roster, Eddie Jones will be counted on to lead the Miami HEAT in the 2001-02 season and beyond. Even while having an admittedly sub-par season, EJ still managed to lead the HEAT in scoring, steals, and blocks.
With Tim Hardaway all but certain to be leaving Miami, EJ will also be counted on to score in crunch time. At the end of the season, Jones said that he welcomed the newly found responsibility. Only time will tell if the hometown boy is ready to take on the challenge.
The only true weaknesses in Eddie's game last year were crunch time free throw shooting and a somewhat passive approach on offense on time, this shouldn't be a problem this year with Timmy gone. Hopefully Riles can get an athletic point guard to play next to EJ. Stay Tuned.
