Mine.....
Chapter Four

".....I FEEL YOU LIKE A STORM CLOUD BUILDING IN MY HEART......"

The car pulled up to the hotel and the driver got out and opened the door.  Darren stepped out and held out his hand to Jennifer.  She stepped into the light and she was standing there holding his hand, as he smiled.  "Will there be anything else, Mr. Hayes?"  "Not right now, Tom.  Thanks, mate".

As they walked toward the front door, he was still holding her hand and she thought it was the most romantic thing in the world.  They went though the door held open by a doorman and went to the elevator.  "I hope they don't think I'm someone you picked up", Jennifer said.  Darren laughed and said, "Jen, these people don't even know who the hell I am ".  They both laughed.

They went up in the elevator in excruciating silence.  Darren is thinking, "I have to do something to break this tension".  He looks at her and then leans down and lightly and softly kisses her lips.  She feels his mouth open slightly and she does the same.  She closes her eyes and is swept away by the feeling of his gorgeous mouth on hers and she can feel the tip of his tongue on her lips.  She lets out a moan before she can stop it, and he presses further into her mouth with his tongue.  Just then, "ding", the elevator stops.  He pulls back looking into her eyes and she thinks, "I have never seen such beautiful eyes".  Darren smiles and says, "this is us".

The doors open and they walk down the hall, hand in hand.   Jennifer is completely consumed with thoughts of Darren, his body, his mouth, his eyes and making love to him.

They get to the room and Darren opens the door and sweeps his arm, as if to say "come in".  Jennifer steps in and he closes the door.   She marvels at the beautiful suite he has.  So THIS is what money and fame can buy.  "Would you like to sit down, Jennifer?"  "Sure, ah, but where?"  She looks around for a place to sit but sees papers, socks and everything else everywhere.  "Oh, God, here let me clean this up."  She giggles watching him run around gathering everything up off the chairs and couch.  "I can be such a slob sometimes", he says and laughs.

She sits down on the couch, just really in shock that she is sitting in Darren Hayes' hotel suite and he is running around cleaning everything up.  He finally comes back after tossing all his crap into the bedroom.  "Well, let's see, can I get you something?  Would you like a drink or something?"  "OK, that would be great."  "Well", he says while looking through everything he has.  "Not too much here, Jen.  "Ah, how about...?  OK, this is it.  You can have a Sprite, orange juice, God, what's this??, well, forget that one, or a glass of wine."  "well, I guess the Sprite would be fine."  "Ok, you got it" he says and smiles.

While he is pouring her soda, she is just looking around, nervous as all hell.  What do I talk to him about?  Remember, don't ask a million questions about the band and for God's sake, don't mention his wife.

Just then, Darren brings over her soda.  "Here you go.  Sorry I don't have more to offer you."  "Oh Darren, it's fine.  Really."  He took the orange juice and sits down next to her on the couch.  "So, Jennifer, that's a beautiful name by the way."  "Oh, thanks" and she giggles a bit.  "Tell me about you.  What would I want or need to know about you?"  Oh great, she thinks, this is going to be the most boring story.  "Well, not much to tell really.  I work at an office near here.  I've been there for about 3 years.  I don't really live nearby, so I drive into work everyday."  GOD, this is so boring, she thinks.  "I'm 32, hmmmmm, love to travel and see new places, I have 2 cats and some fish."  Darren laughs.  "Oh, I have a puppy."  He gets up and says, "I have a picture I carry with me."  He shows her a picture of him with his puppy.  "That's Obi, like in Star Wars.'  "Oh, that's right you love Star Wars, don't you?"  "Oh yeah, I collected it all as a kid, then got rid of it like a fool.  Now I am trying to buy it all back, but it costs three times as much now!  Obi is in Brisbane.  I miss him."  "Awww, he's cute, Darren."  "Yeah, I love him, so I miss him alot.  When I call home, Col............."  and stops talking.   He clears his throat and says, "well, yeah, I miss him."   Jennifer knows he was going to say "Colby", but he stopped himself.

"So, Jen, do you have any kids or anything?"  "Oh, no, not yet.  I want to though.  I think babies and kids are great.  Just hasn't been the right time or the right person yet, y'know?"  "Yeah, I know.  I love babies and kids.  My sister has two and I love them, I really want to have some kids."  Jennifer is thinking, OK, say the word and I'll have yours.  She laughs thinking about it.  Darren says, "Hey, what's so funny?  Me being a father?"  "NO, no, just had a thought cross my mind."

"So, Darren, what is the best city you have visited so far?"  "Oh, God, so many places.  Do you know I was in three countries in one day in Europe?  Amazing.  Well, I would have to say New York.  I just love it there."  "Really?  I have never been to New York, but it sounds so exciting and a little frightening."  "Nah, that's just stories.  I think New Yorkers are great and you never know who you'll see or meet.  So many things going on.  You have to understand I am used to Australia and Brissie and Logan City and seeeing all these places and people is truly amazing."  "Oh I can understand that.  I love to travel but have really never been anywhere exotic, let's say.  And I would love to see other cultures and people."   "Yeah, that's what I love about this.  Seeing all the different people and places all over the world."

Their conversation went on and on.  They discussed movies, religion, music, the world, everything you could talk to someone about you hardly know.  "So, would you like to get some dinner.  They have spectacular food here."  "Oh, yeah, that would be great Darren."  Jennifer is definitely feeling more at ease with him after talking to him about just about everything under the sun for 2 hours.  But a little part ofher still is saying "I can't BELIEVE this."

"Ok, here's the menu.  Get anything you like."  They look over the menu together and laugh at different names of entrees which give no clue to what it actually is.  "You know, I ordered this.  The "Midwestern Enchilada"  I thought it was like veggies, you know.  I'm a vegetarian.  It comes and it is full of beef and some other meat I couldn't even identify."  They both laugh.  "And I didn't ask either.  So some of the names are confusing."  As he is sitting next to her looking down at the menu, she sneaks a peek at him and looks at every part of his face.  "God, what a beautiful face," she thinks.  He must have felt her eyes on him, because he raised his eyes to meet hers and caught her.  He smiled and said, "Caught you."  She immediately starts to blush and looks down.  Darren puts his finger under her chin and raises her head up to his.  "It's OK, I've been sneaking looks at you too.  I'm just better at it" and smiles.  With his finger still under her chin, he leans over and kisses her gently.  She closes her eyes and thinks, this guy is so normal.  So like everyone else, but so beautiful and so kind and sweet.  I could really fall in..........NO!  Jen, don't do this.  Don't start thinking of him that way.   He will be gone in a few days and you will never see him again.  Remember WHO this is.

After the kiss and a look that lasted a little too long, Darren looks down at the menu and says, "OK, I'm going to have the omelette.  I had it before and it was really good."  Jennifer smiles at him and looks over the menu.  Shit, what should I get??  "You know, I'll have the same thing.  Sounds good to me.  And if you liked it then it's OK."  Again, they are smiling like 15 yr olds and staring at each other.  "Well, OK, omelettes it is."  Darren goes over to the phone to order their food and Jennifer gets up and walks over to the window.  They are 25 floors up and she looks down at the traffic and is thinking, if anyone knew I was up here with Darren and smiles.  She hears him hang up and turns around as he is walking towards her.  He stands next to her looking out the window and puts his arm around her shoulder and says, "Beautiful, isn't it?"  "Oh yes, it's amazing how every city can look so peaceful and quiet from up this high."  Just then the phone rings.

Darren looks over and says, "Oh, excuse me a sec, Jen."  He walks over and says "Hello?"  "Oh God hey it's you.  How are you?"  After listening he says, "Well, no I have plans tonight."  With her back to him, she just smiles.  "No, I can't break them.  I have a date."  Listening.  "Yeah, I KNOW that, but I can't.  Sorry.  But you have a great time and send my regards.  OK, then, see ya, mate."  And he hangs up.  "That was Daniel.  He wanted me to go out to some club they are all going to."  "Oh Darren, if you want to go....."  "no, no, no, no, you aren't getting away that easy," and smiles.    He walks over to her and puts his hands on her shoulders and looks at her. "You have beautiful eyes, Jennifer."  "Well, thank you Darren.  Yours are amazing.  Like deep pools of water I could get lost in."  As soon as she said the words, she thinks, "Did I SAY that????  OH GOD!"

He actually blushed and put his head down.  Then looked at her and said, "Thank you.  That is quite a compliment coming from such a beauitful woman."

They stand there by the window looking at each other and Jennifer is thinking "how will this end?  Will we eat and then he says well, good night nice to meet you?  or will we..........?"

To break the sexual tension, Darren says, "How about some music, eh?"  He walks away and puts the stereo on and puts a soothing station on that sounds like jazz, but quiet jazz.  Jennifer walks back to the couch and is nagged by the thoughts of  "I really could get used to this and him.  STOP IT, JEN.  Remember who this is and remember that he is MARRIED."

They both sit back down on the couch and talk about silly things like high school, growing up, brothers and sisters, all their likes and dislikes.  It all seems so.........so....right.  It seemed like they just sat down, when there is a knock on the door.  "Hmm, must be dinner", says Darren and smiles.  He got up and leaned down and kissed her before he walks away to answer the door.  He has amazingly soft lips, she thinks.  And watches him at the door with the waiter, who comes in wheeling a cart.  "Good evening, m'am," he says. "Hello," replies Jen.  Darren signs the bill and the waiter leaves them alone.

Darren rubs his hands together and says, "OK, dinner is served.  May I show you to your seat, young lady?"  and smiles.  All Jennifer can think is that this is too good to be true and so is Darren........
