St. Paul & Ramsey County Maps

We sell a colored copy of the 1867 BIRD'S EYE VIEW OF ST. PAUL drawn by Albert Ruger. This is a very detailed map of the city two years after the Civil War, less than a decade after statehood. This view shows every house and building in the city drawn to scale as seen from approximately 2,000 feet above the city. There are steamboats on the river, the streets are named, the first bridge and state capital are easily identified. The wealth of detail in this map is simply amazing, and its value as an historical document is unrivaled. Here is an online example of a Bird's Eye View map of Stillwater by Albert Ruger. We have reproduced and annotated the eight township maps from the 1867 ATLAS OF RAMSEY COUNTY by L. G. Bennett. They are Reserve, Rose, Mound View, New Canada, McLean, White Bear, St Anthony Township (Hennepin County), and Manomin County (now part of Anoka County). Each map shows the original geography of the land in 1867: the wetlands, first roads, houses, bluff lines, streams, and wooded areas. Here is an online version of the Reserve Township Map. We offer color copies from a number of St. Paul real estate atlases dating from 1884 to 1928. These atlases vividly depict the Twin Cities neighborhoods of the day: every house, out-building, business, street, public stairway, railroad. Every detail is outlined to scale in a color code. Here are sections of the Macalester and Crocus Hill Neighborhoods from the real estate atlases. For ordering information, click here.

We also offer color copies from the 1898 ATLAS OF RAMSEY COUNTY. All the townships are included, as well as many of the early villages. Let us know what you might like. Please examine our online example. This section of the atlas is of New Canada The cost is $14.95 each, including postage and sales tax.
