Books
(I've read a lot more on the subject, and one day will get them all listed.)
- How to Win Over Depression (by Tim LaHayne)
-----Now that I have re-read the book, I have to say that I do not reccomend this book. Other than the fact that the book is outdated [© 1974] the author seems to me to be very opinionated, and does not truly understand depression. But again, the book was written 25 years ago...
- Dark Clouds, Silver Linings (by Archibald D. Hart, Ph.D.)
----- An excellent book! I have gotten a lot of info. for my web page from this book.
- Through the Wilderness of Loneliness (by Tim Hansel)
- Speaking of Sadness (by David A. Karp, professor of sociology @ Boston College)
- Mama, Get the Hammer! Theres a fly on Papa's Head! (by Barbara Johnson)
Using Humor To Flatten Out Your Pain
- The Beast ( by Tracy Thompson )
-----Great book- I was unable to put the book down after I started reading. Finished within 24 hours!
- How to Heal Depression ( by Harold H. Bloomfield, M.D. and Peter McWilliams )
-----Straight-forward. Easy to read. Excellent information.
- Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (4 th edition) by American Psychiatric
Association: Washington, DC American Psychiatric Press 1994.
-----listed for those that don't know; the DSM is a reference tool that contains the diagnostic criteria used to assess clinical depression.
