SEPULTURA HISTORY

SEPULTURA WAS FORMED BY BROTHERS MAX AND IGOR CAVALERA IN 1983, THEY TEAMED UP WITH SCHOOL FRIENDS PAULO Jr. AND JAIRO T. THEY STAY TOGETHER AND RECORD "BESTIAL DEVISTATION" AND "MORBID VISIONS" THEIR FIRST ALBUM. IN '86 JAIRO LEAVES THE BAND, SEPULTURA LOOK FOR A NEW GUITARIST AND FIND ANDREAS KISSER. IN '87 THE BAND RELEASE THE SECOND ALBUM "SCHIZOPHRENIA" THEY TOUR OFF THE ALBUM AGAIN, AND BY NOW HAVE A GOOD FOLLOWING IN BRAZIL.

IN 1989 ROADRUNNER RECORDS SIGN SEPULTURA. THE THIRD ALBUM "BENEATH THE REMAINS" IS RELEASED AND IS COMPARED TO SLAYER'S LEGENDARY "REIGN IN BLOOD" FOR IT'S SPEED AND BRUTALITY. THE BAND THEN FOR THE FIRST TIME TOURS OUTSIDE BRAZIL. 1990 SEES THE BAND MAINLY WORKING ON MATERIAL FOR THE NEXT ALBUM. IN '91 "ARISE" IS RELEASED WHICH IS ANOTHER GOOD HIT FOR THE BAND AND THEY THEN TOUR ALL OVER THE WORLD. '92 SEES THE RELEASE OF THE LIVE VIDEO "UNDER SIEGE".

IN '93 "CHAOS AD" IS RELEASED ARGUABLY SEPULTURA'S BEST ALBUM. THIS IS THE DEFINITIVE ALBUM WHICH SETS THE CLASSIC SEPULTURA SOUND. THE BAND THEN EXTENSIVLEY TOURS THE US. THE TOUR CONTINUES WELL INTO '94 AND SEPULTURA PLAY DONNINGTON MONSTERS OF ROCK. A SECOND VIDEO IS RELEASED IN '95 CALLED "THIRD WORLD CHAOS" AND THE BAND START WORK ON THE SIXTH ALBUM.
