TRAFFIC
A big problem, when you got a new homepage, is to get some traffic on your page. there are many ways of how to get traffic. For example you can submit to search engines, linkpages, do banner-advertising on other pages, join a rotating banner/link system... and many others.
Places where you can go to submit your page to lots of search engines and linkpages FOR FREE, are for example "Add It!", "Add Me!", "Register-It!", "PostMaster", "Alpha Submit", A Free Url Submission Script, "Atajos", "Submit It!", "Submission Pro", "CMS EuroSubmit", "SubmitShack", and "Submit This!". And if you want to know if the submissions where really done sucessfully, you can go to "did-it.com", "WebPosition", and "MetaFinder", to check your Web Position or if it is easy to find your page or not. But consider the submission services may take some time and the search engines too, until your link is shown in a list or able to find with a keyword. Another good way is to join a rotating Banner/Link System, which promises you (if you do good advertising for it) a value of about 24-32000 visitors A DAY after 4 months when you joined the system.
WEBSPACE
Sure... without webspace no homepage. But why spend lots of $$$ if you can get it FOR FREE? For example THIS page, is sponsored by the great service of "Angelfire". Others, for beginners, are "The Express Page". But also "Infoseek", "Crosswinds", "Fiberia, "easyspace", "Xoom" and "GeoCities" offer webspace for free.
