Obituary of Master Gunnery Sergeant RONALD DOUGLAS “R. D." REYNOLDS In loving memory of Ron Reynolds, 59, of Aurora who died June 28, 2002. He was born June 3, 1943 in Springfield, Colorado. He attended South High School in Pueblo prior to joining the Marine Corps in 1961. He remained in active duty until March 9, 1970, during which he served two tours in Vietnam with units Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 365 and Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463 as a helicopter crew chief and section leader. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Combat Air Crew Insignia with 3 stars, Navy Unit Commendation, Air Medal with 6 stars, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal with star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with 2 stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Air Medal with 8 stars. He returned to Pueblo where he was employed by Mountain Bell and attended USC. He was on active reserve with the USMC at Buckley Air National Guard Base. He married Carol Sutton Plonkey on Jan 12, 1973. They moved to Aurora in 1981. June 7, 1986 he retired from the U S Marine Corps as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. September, 2001 he retired with 30 years of service with Mountain Bell, AT&T, Lucent Tech & Avaya, Inc. He was a volunteer with The National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) for 9 years and a member of the Vietnam Helicopter Association. He is survived by his parents, Mr and Mrs Robert L. Patterson of Pueblo West, his wife of 29 years, Carol Reynolds, daughter Michelle Gray of Greeley, son Bret Reynolds of Parker, his cherished granddaughter, Porschia Gray of Greeley, brothers, Kelly Reynolds of Aurora & Gary Reynolds of Pueblo West, and sister, Cheryl Reynolds of Newcastle.
